@redrage…I tried to take BEC at the end of November, and Houston doesn't have the date for me so I scheduled it in Austin. It turned out quiet a fun trip. The drive to Austin actually cleared my mind from my last minutes cram, and the guys at the Prometric center in Austin are very friendly…I went to San Marcos to shop after I took the exam…now I just need a pass score to make this trip perfect. :-).

    Y'all crack me up!

Realistically, I don't think TSBPA is here to serve CPA and Candidates. I imagine Texas law mandates that TSBPA is here to serve the PUBLIC (or set TSBPA up specifically for that reason), by regulating and monitoring CPA's and candidates. I have a feeling there isn't anything we can do to get Texas to be an NASBA state except VOTE. I hope I'm wrong, but the way all of the educational requirements and things are so regulated by the laws in Texas, I would imagine that's the way it works.

LOL. I took my FAR in Alexandria, LA b/c of a stupid mistake on my part–I guess I never hit “submit” and walked around for 10 days thinking I was taking the test in Houston on 11/30. Something made me think that I hadn't seen a confirmation, and sure enough, when I called Prometric, I was not signed up. At that point, I could only get a seat in Houston in like 4 or 5 days, so I went to LA and gave myself an extra week beyond that (it was that or wait until Jan). Sigh. But the 4 hour drive was pleasant, and the little center only had 6 seats. Nice and quiet, very friendly. Was thinking I actually might do that again!

It's not like there aren't about 25 extra steps between getting the AOI approved and finally reserving your seat at Prometric! :o)

@wendy, I had the similar situation except my drive is not 2.5 hrs. The interesting thing about Prometric is that they are as much screwed up as AICPA and TSBPA. Their system wasn't working when I tried to register, so I had to call to schedule. Also, The seats not available today doesn't mean they are not available tomorrow. you just need to check the website often for availablity.

@David, about your girlfriend? Just tell her you are doing it for the team and for all the human kinds in Texas. For doing that, you might be up for nomination for 2012 Hero award at CNN.

I do not think that will work. We are already having disagreements about me doing CPA. And time it takes. If I have to tell her that I need to sleep with James and Sandra To get my scores faster that will be the end.

That 2012 Hero Award does sound pretty good! Lol

If that Hero award has a significant cash payment, all of this might become unnecessary! <lol> I'll vote for ya!
