You walk out of each exam with a killer headache…I took all four parts (waiting on the last one) and I walked out of each exam with the worst headaches ever. Why do you think that is so? What do you do to get rid of them? Or prevent them?

My theory is that its caused from two things:

The resolution of the screen. It sucks. Prometric could get some bigger, updated screens. Dual screens, even especially trying to flip back and forth during a DRS Sim..grrr

Lack of food. Especially during FAR and AUD, the 4 hour killers. Somewhere, probably after testlet three, you should get up, walk around for a few minutes. Drink a redbull or eat a piece of fruit.

I agree with the food thing. Low blood sugar can cause headaches. For me, the lighting in my prometric is bad – it's those florescent lights that give me migraines. It's brutal being in that room for so long.

The other thing I figure is stress. You put a bunch of time, money and effort into passing an exam and a lot is riding on passing each exam. Once the test is done, it's kinda like all the stress is released (for a little while anyway).

I took a 10 min break for both AUD and FAR around 2 hours in to drink some coffee, water and eat a cliff bar. My score was higher on those two, so maybe the break was helpful.

I think lack of food and/or water can definitely be a contributing factor – dehydration will cause headaches for me. However, my #1 cause of super bad headaches is stress. So, if I had your situation you described, I would 100% attribute it to stress, and suggest various relaxation techniques. Even something as simple as taking a couple seconds to do neck stretches while the next testlet loads in could help relieve the tension in your neck and reduce the headaches. Granted, hopefully you're done and never have to take an exam again 🙂 but might still be useful for other situations.

I'm not sure, but those post exam headaches are awful. I take headache meds beforehand and afterwards, and go get food right after the exam, but I still get a headache and lingers all day. The only way I get it to go away is sleep it off (overnight, a couple hours doesn't work). If you ever find a solution, tell me about it 🙂

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! Yes I definitely attribute it to Lack of food ( I don’t eat a big breakfast, just coffee), dehydration, and stress. I usually do not eat until the exam is over ( I always take my exam at 12:00 PM) . Hopefully I will not have any more of those post exam headaches but I was just curious if I was just crazy or if others had the exact same experience.
