I passed all other three parts in the past five months, but failed AUD with a 74. I thought I did ok with MC, but not good with TBS. I used Becker for preparation, and I think I remebered most of the materials.

    1. Is there anyway for me to better prepare the simulation part?

    2. If I appeal my score now, is there any chance that they will change my score to pass??

I feel really bad this morning after checking my score….. >_<

I also used Becker to prepare for audit. While their lectures were not very good, they made up for it with great MC questions and a really challenging “Final Exam” in the simluations section. I found the Audit simulations to be pretty hard to prepare for. They seemed to be really subjective and I changed my answers multiple times before submitting. I supplemented Becker with the Roger Cram. I found it to be really good for Audit. I think it's good to try to get a different perspective on the material. Roger is also much easier to actually learn from while you listen to the lectures.

My advice would be to get through the material as many times as you can before you take it again. I would also suggest looking over lists of stuff like … “here are some examples of fraud risk factors… CEO turnover, low profit…” Roger's cram was good about including a few pages on stuff like that. I remember that helping me out on the audit sims.

    FAR (4/25/11) 94
    AUD (5/23/11) 93
    REG (8/22/11) 84
    BEC (8/30/11) 92

I used Becker as well and thought they did a really great job. I don't think Becker alone is enough, however. I supplemented the Becker material with the Wiley book/test bank and the NINJA notes. If you don't have the Wiley software I strongly suggest you purchase it (I believe I saw a post saying it was on sale for $77 right now). When I sat for AUD I was seeing questions that were almost word for word questions that I was tested on in the Wiley software. Also with the Wiley software you get the same testing screen you will see during the real test. You can choose either study mode (when you answer a question you are given the answer immediately) or exam mode. I personally think the best way to learn is to do hundreds of MC in Study mode. Seeing why you got a question right or wrong immediately is the most efficient/effective way to understand the concepts. As for the Sims I think doing tons of practice sims is sort of a waste. You will most likely never see a similar sim on the actual exam. I think understanding the concepts and doing tons and tons (and tons) of MC is the better route. Reading the NINJA notes also was a great way to review the day before the exam. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Forgot to address appealing your score. I would not appeal your score, its such a waste of time. I found out I got a 74 on FAR yesterday. Its the worst feeling in the world. Its probably even worse for you considering its the last part you need to pass. Based on what I've read the score appeal process is expensive, long and a waste of time. I believe it costs $200 for a score review and takes 8 weeks. All they do is make sure that the right answer key was used. I have never heard about anyone who got their score changed. Your best bet is to just buckle down and go at it again. You got a 74. You are so close but just need to change your study method a little. Like I said in my last post, supplement Becker with another source. I think Wiley is excellent and is so cheap. For FAR I only used Becker and I got a 74. I believe relying solely on Becker is why I failed. I think no matter what course you use it is always wise to use supplemental material to cover all your bases.

Thanks for your help! I am just sick of sitting all night preparing for the exam again. I took AUD on April 15. Hope I can remember all the materials again in a short time. I will def try another source for preparation. It is just too frustrating to know I got a 74 for my last section!

My friend studied for AUD using Becker for 3 weeks and passed. Didn't use any supplemental material, just did the practice questions 2-3 times. She did all of the supplemental questions and the final exams in Becker. She also wrote the sample auditor's report given in the text out as well as the engagement letter so that she knew them by heart.

@SoFlaCPA – I found after the exam that threre are a couple of areas in Becker that I am not very familiar with, and the exam tested those areas on TBS. ( I remembered everything in Becker when I took FAR and REG. That is probably the reason for a 74.) I will def read the book a couple times and work all the questions on the software before I try other supplements later on if I have time. BTW, I just realized that after July 1, I have to learn new rules to pass AUD……. Anyways, thanks for your help. I think I just need to study more and practice more!
