I keep reading people say they have their study schedule all planned out when they first start studying for a section and I am not sure how to go about that. In the past I have just tried to put in the hours and during that timeframe tackle as much as possible but I see that people seem to have complete schedules which sounds like a really good idea. Sometimes I try to make a goal of this weekend I want to tackle F3 or something like that and then the questions/concepts take me longer than anticipated and I don’t get it all done. So my question is how do you create and stay on schedule when you don’t know how long it will take to tackle one subject or another?

Some people do have very precise schedules set up in Excel. My approach was a little different. I set a goal as to when I needed to start my final review and broke down by day what I needed to get done in order to meet that goal. With each of my goals I tried to be a little generous so I had some flexibility if something came up whether it was external or difficulty in understanding the material. As you can see from my signature, I did this on a pretty compressed schedule so I'd continue studying even if I'd reached my day's goal in case something came up later in the week. The other thing was that I'd move on if I got stuck on a topic for too long. I'd spend a little more time on it during my final review, but it was amazing how often stuff that seemed totally impossible suddenly made sense after I'd covered the rest of the exam material.

    Good luck.

I spent about a week reviewing. However, I was studying about 8-10 hours per day that week. Also, I've always been strong in financial accounting.
