Simulation Question

When studying with CPAexcel, I’ve noticed that sometimes on the sims, when it asks me to list expenses, it wants me to enter them as positive numbers. Sometimes it wants them as negative numbers. But it never tells me what it wants! I’ve even looked on the help tabs. So sometimes it will count all of my answers wrong just because I’m not showing the # the way that it wants (but won’t tell me it wants).

I’ve taken a ton of exams (obviously, see below) but for the life of me, I can’t remember if the real CPA exam sims specify how to show the numbers. Can anyone help?

For example. one of the questions asks for:

    Revenue:

    Expenses:

    COGS

    Rent Expenses

    Liability Insurance Premium

    Total Expenses

    Self Employment Income

I entered the expenses in as negative numbers and it marked them all incorrect. Hopefully the CPA exam actually tells you how it wants you to show them?

Also my exam is tomorrow so… yeah…

Oh and I should mention here that I love CPAexcel. Other than the above issue, and sometimes getting the same question multiple times in a simulated exam, I have no complaints. It's a great study program.

i use cpa excel (employer provided) and the reg sims were so annoying for those reasons (and ifelt like the overall preparation was short of adequate). i'd spend some time doing problems from college textbooks if you've got em around… otherwise just get comfortable with concepts and the general idea of filling out sims and hopefully youll be ok. (i havent gotten my test score yet so i have no idea how my actual sims performance was)
