Should I buy 2011 Review Material or Wait for 2012?

Hello everyone, I’m a bit confused and have a question that hopefully someone here can answer. I’ll be completing my undergrad within the next 3-4 weeks, basically by the 1st week of September.

I plan to take FAR at the end of October, this will give me 2 months of studying (from early Sept. to end of Oct.)

I then plan to study for AUD at the end of Nov. which will only give me 1 month of studying (from end of Oct. to end of Nov)

My confusion is this…. if I purchase one of the review courses such as Rogers or Yaeger, it will be for 2011, what about the rest of the material when 2012 rolls around for the 2nd window. Will there be any changes in the CPA exam in 2012?

Should I just wait until 2012 before I buy any review material / books and start my test taking in 2012 instead of 2011?

I know Yaeger has something called the Now and Then program b/c I just purchased it about a month ago. I paid for all 4 parts of the HomeStudy as a bundle, but I have only received the 2011 FAR materials because I'm taking that exam in November. As soon as 2012 REG, BEC and AUD come out, they will mail me those materials since I'm taking those exams next year. I never saw that option on their website, but when I called to ask some questions about the course they told me about it.

apbandj, I wasn't aware of that either, that sounds great.

I originally thought all the cpa review courses would send you everything all at once. Did you place your order with Yaeger online? or was it through the phone.

By the way, are you a recent graduate? What order do you plan to take the sections in and what's your planned exam dates and amount of time to be put studying?

I did place my order online, but that was after I had talked to a guy named Sonny on the phone. He told me to e-mail him after I placed the order and let him know I wanted to do the Now and Then and which section(s) I wanted first. So I would definitely call before placing the order.

He told me that Yaeger recommends doing FAR, AUD, BEC, REG. But he said the most important thing is to do AUD after FAR since you are essentially auditing things from FAR in the AUD section.

I graduated from college in 2001 and haven't even been in the workforce since 2004. So needless to say I will be putting in many more hours than someone like you who is taking the exam right out of school. FAR is definitely the longest and hardest, so that's why I'm going to get that out of the way first. When I started studying for the exam, I didn't even know the SFAS were now called ASC – tells you how out of the loop I am! Good luck!
