How did u like the NIU cpareview correspondence for REG? I was considering myself…not sure at this moment. Can you please give me some insights. Is it comparable to real exams? How do you like it? Anything will be helpful !

@cpamust: I sing NIU's praises every chance I get! I've used the correspondence CPA review for all 4 sections and you can see the results in my signature. I think the review is worth every single penny that I invested in the course. With REG, you get handouts that were very well written by the NIU professors containing only the information you need to pass the section without any unnecessary fillers. You also get 14 lectures (each approx. 3 hours long) – it's daunting I know, but each lecture is valuable. The professors are pretty dynamic so it's not hard to get through the lectures.

I felt very prepared going into each exam exept for REG, but only because I don't think I gave myself enough time to properly review the materials especially since I'm not a tax person. As for comparison to the real exam, I think it was true to the exam. Some of the practice SIMs that the professors wrote were actually much harder and more involved than the exam but it made me more comfortable when I worked the real SIMs. I hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions!

Ohh I'm all for this going red! I'll wear mine both tomorrow and Thursday (different pair, of course haha)! This is my first exam and the wait is unbearable!

@amp712, you should keep the same pair to make them more “magical” lol And I hate to say it but I feel like I'm a lot more anxious waiting for my last score than I was for my first. Then again, every score release is nerve-wracking.

I just wanted to let KasiaS that I am firm believer in her tradition! I ran out and bought the red panties because I would be willing to try almost anything to pass. AND GUESS WHAT…I finally passed my first section! Those red panties are now sacred and will be worn for every exam!! Here's to finally completing this journey in 2012! Thank you soooooo much for sharing!

@amp712, thanks, I'm truly hoping this will be the end of the CPA road for me. Right now, all my eggs are in the red panty basket since I didn't feel so hot about my performance after finishing REG. The only thing keeping my mind off the scores is The Hunger Games. What an incredible read!!!

@Mom2two, I'm so happy for your first pass and it's wonderful to hear that the red panties played a role! I've been using this since high school and I never failed an exam!

I might do what Yankee said and frame those suckers after I pass the last section!

@Yankee & everyone else, I'm more than happy to share this tradition with you. Thank you for making it the hit is has become! My mom couldn't stop laughing when I told her about the Red Panty Revolution. She's the one that taught me about this charm.

Thank you so much for your quick and detailed response. Whatever you said and your scores are good enough for me. Also, I am convinced that you see passing score for the REG.

The reason I hesitated earlier, someone (don't remember) said they failed after taking NIU cpareview courses and it was not good enough.

I guess, it will differ from person to person.
