Score release question: Late exam on cutoff day

Right now I’m scheduled to take an exam on October 20th(last day to find out the score on November 4th) but it’s from 3:30-8:00 pm. Does anyone know if I would be included in the November 4th score release or would it be pushed into the next score release date since the exam will end so late? Considering changing the time to an earlier window and at a different location but hate spending more money on this d@mn exam…

Also, I am guessing there is no way to avoid a change fee if I am keeping it the same day but moving locations?

    Thanks!

It all depends on when the AICPA receives your score from the parametric center so it is tough to say if you would be included in that score period or not.

@FARISFUN I kinda figured that. Was just hoping to hear from people who maybe took it that late in previous windows and still got their score in the closer score release. I guess I'm just gonna change it and pay the dang money…

I took FAR September 9th and the cutoff day I believe was the next day at midnight. I was suppose to receive my score on September 20th but received it on the 21st.

@FARISFUN Hm, interesting. Pretty sure I've taken 3 of my 4 exams on the cutoff day and got all those scores as indicated on the score release time table. Just never taken an exam with this late of an exam time. Did you proactively check the score or did you wait for the e-mail to come and that's what you received on the 21st?

If you don't mind me asking, did you pass? I am assuming you did since you think FAR IS FUN! haha

I did not receive an email. I emailed the board and asked and they said they post the score as they receive them. So I just checked at night of the 21st and my score happened to be there. Yes I passed with a 78 and couldn't be happier. I am taking BEC this Friday and am not really sure what to think about it

@FARISFUN ah I see. Congrats – That is huge! I'm not sure how I will react when I see a passing score for FAR. I'll probably want to go to my apartment balcony and yell to the top of my lungs but I'll probably just lay there in shock that this nightmare is finally over! If you have any tips on what you did for FAR, I'm all ears.

I wish I could remember more about BEC but I took it earlier this year and my studying was split up by the Christmas holidays. All I remember is going through all the lessons in CPA Excel and reviewing/doing MCQ's for about 2 weeks once I got through the materials. I barely passed but I don't care. A pass is a pass. Good luck on Friday, but I feel like if you passed FAR, you'll be fine!

@GeauxAwayCPA I sure hope so. I feel like BEC material is more detail oriented then FAR for some reason. FAR I just did MCQ and tried to understand the generalization of topics. BEC seems like you have to really know the terminology and how to do something or you won't have a clue. FAR wasn't too hard to eliminate answers I thought so thats what I am hoping for on BEC exam day

@FARISFUN yeah, you're probably right. For some reason I felt like I could logically work through BEC and I think in FAR I've noticed a lot of exceptions to the general rule that throw me off. With some topics it's hard to find consistency or a pattern b/c there is always a “this is how it is BUT….” lol. I'm trying really hard to keep it all together! But b/c of that I kind of feel like FAR is all over the place, mainly the governmental part. I think if I would have had a better handle on Governmental and NFP, I would have passed the first time around. But coulda, shoulda, woulda, right? It could also very well be a mixture of the amount of info and the fact that I'm desperate to be done so every little deviation throws me off my game.

Yes government and NFP are big portions of the test. There are a lot of small differences between GAAP and IFRS too that get tricky to remember

Yes that's true. I'm feeling “Better” about govt and NFP but I still have a lot of work to do over the next 9 days. What did you do to learn the IFRS vs GAAP differences?

When I went through all of the chapters I wrote them down on a separate piece of paper and then reviewed everything at the end of my studying

@FARISFUN Nice, thanks. I screenshot all of the slides in my CPA Excel presentations and I'm planning on putting those into a word document and looking at those again in the next few days.
