LOL but times have changed. That dinosaur didn't have instant access to everything like we do.

    I want instant gratification!!!!

Anyone else want to fail? I think I may be in a unique situation. I honestly hope I don't pass.

I've failed Regulation five times. I made up my mind that I was done with the CPA exam when I got my fifth failing REG score. I got a 4.0 in my Accounting program. I put 1000+ hours into REG alone. And yet, five times I've failed, and a couple of them were just… bad. I've gotten screwed with each exam: unfamiliar material and impossible simulations that don't even make any sense. There's just something about pumping endless dollars and hours into a broken system that I am no longer comfortable with. It is beyond my dignity to keep going on this journey when I should have been done a year ago. This credential is completely irrelevent, IMO. It has nothing to do with your abilities. I think, for me, it's become a question of, “How much bull are you willing to slog through?” And I have exhausted my reserve.

The only problem with my exit plan was that I had already scheduled a BEC rematch when I made up my mind to quit. When I found out Prometric was going to rape me for more money to cancel the test, I went and sat for it anyway. I tried, but hell, I didn't study the last few days before the test. I'm patiently waiting for a failing score so I can put this nightmare behind me. I work in internal audit at a bank now (I was at a public firm when I started sitting in 2011). If I truly feel certification is required to feel okay about myself, I'll go CIA at a later date. Liberation is what I'm searching for at this time.

But passing BEC would change everything. I lose credit for AUD at the end of November… I would just feel obligated to give one more go at REG, and I just don't think I have the energy to do it.

    Am I crazy?

    @ Pass for sure

I am kind of with you…it seemed hard but with so many people passing last quarter I figure we had to have passed?

@ Can't Pass Again: Just my two cents, but I'm answering your question: Yes, I think you're crazy.

You've passed FAR, the toughest one of the exams. You're halfway there. And with all due respect, the credential is not completely irrelevant. It's extremely relevant. The exam is hard for a reason. Each person has his own personal hell of a section. Mine was BEC.

Giving up should not be an option. Look back on all the money you've spent … it'd be a total waste. And from personal experience, if you ever lose your job, a CPA license designation will do WONDERS for you. The demand is out there. You don't want to be in a situation where you are up against an equal candidate that has a CPA license. That's a no-brainer for the employer. Try different study materials … change your study format around a bit. But do not quit. Quitting is WAY too easy.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

    @ Gatorbates:

I guess the deep dark truth is that if I >>really<< wanted to fail it… I would have just clicked through the exam and left the testing center…. right? Hah.

You make a lot of good points. I'm just at my wits' end.

I hear ya. For what it's worth, I first took the exam in 2002 when it was paper based, and I'm still going for it. (Not continuously … took 2004-2011 off).

Just think, you'll never have to do this stuff again, once you pass. You've passed 3 before, so it's doable. Just change things around with REG. Take a break, and regroup.

Just for the record, I have been diagnosed with massive ADD for the time during “the wait”. It's undiagnosed after score results are in. Then re-diagnosed after the following section.

    I can't get shite done.
