KenadaMemberRainbow – it may be the way you are studying. I would seriously recommend you get the audio from Jeff. It was what made a big diff for me in BEC and AUD. You can do it. May of us failed numerous times. I failed AUD 4 times and now I finally passed it. You can do it. Just change how you study.

AnonymousInactive@GodsOwn: Becker self study. Multiple choice practice questions and progress tests. Focused on what I got wrong and read those areas. Did a couple of the practice simulations the day before the exam.
I was in between firms and therefore had about two weeks off to cram. Took on a chapter a day and reviewed for about three days. Pretty burnt out by the end of the two weeks but easier than remembering all of that material over months of studying.

AnonymousInactive@eangle,
I agree, I'm using Becker self study, also. I highly recommend it.
REG 88 10/01/13
BEC ? 11/06/13
eangle, do you watch the lectures?
I can't decide if they're worth the time, or not. I didn't on REG, but I'm an Enrolled Agent, tax accountant, and I just did the multiple choice until I hit 90% on the progress test and reviewed the simulations.
On BEC I watched the lectures, outlined, underlined, and hit 92% on the progress, and now it looks like I'm on the bubble.
I'm studying AUD the same way as BEC, but if I'm on the bubble on BEC maybe I ought to do more. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to take AUD11/30 or push it back a few days. I really want my score early. It sucks, that if I take it the 30, I get my score 12/09, if I take it 12/4 it'll be 12/20. I guess I'll take a progress exam next week and decide.

zoctomanMemberRainbow,
I just passed audit(89) with gleim. I think it is a great system, however the multiple choices get very tricky. My advice, when you read a question where you don't even know what exactly is being asked, don't sweat it and just try to learn from the answer explanation. In my experience, the real cpa exam is very clear in what they want, so don't get wrapped up in those 3 paragraph extra super wordy questions from gleim.
Also, my biggest advice when practicing questions or taking the test itself is to make sure you point out the important words in questions, and create buzzwords in your head that go off each time you come across important words. For instance, whenever I read the word “review”, I instantly think “inquiries” “analytical procedures”. When I see the words “agreed upon procedures” I train myself to instantly think “procedures performed and results obtained “.
With these buzzwords in your arsenal, you will steer clear of getting questions wrong because you started down the wrong path Or read the answers too quickly without thinking.
Also, when you study, always ask yourself “am I going for it?” If you are planning to study for 3 hours, if the time flies by and it feels like 15 minutes, then you were fully immersed. If it feels like 3 hours, don't sweat it, just go after it later in the day.
Last bit of advice: try to go outside your comfort zone. I do believe that the last couple days of study should center around comfort sand easing up a bit to be fresh for test day. However, when you are 2 weeks, 1 week or even 4 days out, try to attack the stuff you are most fearful of. If a FAR sim is giving you nightmares, go to the gleim simulations on sales and purchasing cycles and take on FOB shipping point adjustments. If you are nervous about the audit risk model, go after it with all your might. Create a logical story to explain tough abstract concepts. For instance, one could memorize that when detection risk is lower there Are more substantive tests. Don't settle for that. Instead, think about how a lower detection risk ARISES from less reliable controls. So if you can't depend on controls, you must get more evidence yourself and thus more substantive tests are needed.
I apologize if my post is roundabout, I just wanted to share some insight on how I mentally attack the material rather than telling you how many questions I did. Good luck!
