Per usual, the score release buildup and everything about this test is so ridiculous. I pray to God that we all passed our parts. I’m sure they have all the scores by now but lets do a countdown like we’re waiting for Katy Perry to perform.
FAR: 87
BEC: 80
AUD: 90
REG: 89

I'm so anxious right now. It's all I've been thinking about all day. I wasn't like this for the first three, but I assume I feel this way now because I will be done if I passed.
REG - 90 (08/2014) - Study Time = 6 days
FAR - 89 (10/2014) - Study Time = 9 days
BEC - 83 (11/2014) - Study Time = 4 days
AUD - 89 (01/2015) - Study Time = 2 daysFinal score released - 2/4/15
Application mailed - 2/5/15

I would honestly rather them not set a “release date” and just progressively release scores as they finish them. And send me a notification when the scores are released. CPA score release gives me more anxiety than the actual test.
February 3, 2015 at 11:06 pm #645168AnonymousInactivemt3130 – are those really your study times or are they your CRAM times??
9 days for FAR.. that's insane.
February 4, 2015 at 2:50 am #645169AnonymousInactiveClub300 I was wondering the same thing! Mt3130 please respond. Even if those are just your CRAM times I would love to know your strategy! I'm taking REG on Monday……………getting nervous! “I am notorious for making 73's and 74's.
February 4, 2015 at 3:17 am #645170mt3130MemberThose times represent all the time that I studied for each exam. I've only got about 120 hours of study time combined for all 4 exams.
All I do is MCQs. No book reading, no lectures, no practice simulations. The explanations, definitions, and references to the codification are much more focused and succinct than the books and lectures, which makes it easier to remember. When I do MCQs, I find it easier to learn one topic at a time than to do them all at once, although I did them all at once for AUD, since I didn't have enough time to do each one separately.
For me, the biggest thing is just being calm on exam day, don't second guess yourself, use the tools that the exam supplies for the simulations. Everything you need to answer the simulations is given to you.

Licensed CPA - 2/12/15February 4, 2015 at 3:21 am #645171AnonymousInactiveI studied for BEC is 8 days, i took a week of PTO started on a Friday night and tested on Sunday of the following week. I locked my self in my apartment watched all the Becker lectures then did the MC for each chapter. overall i did 100% lecture and 75% questions and passed with a 77. Honestly, you arent going to remember everything but just hearing once and highlighting stores it in your brain. I noticed that as i did MC i would randomly remember the talking heads talking about that certain subject and I would go to that place in the book and re-read it. At the end, its all about going in the test with the intention to win. The multiple choice help you find more confidence in your instinct. I noticed that as I kept working through the MC my instinct was most of the time right when i had to guess. It was miserable, but you have to push through the pain of the lectures and multiple choice. I didnt work on any of the sims cause the 1000 multiple choice questions you do covers anything they can ask you in the sims. (im talking about REG and AUD now). Oh and also, dont waste too much time on one problem, read the solution and move on.. i noticed that the MC tend to get repetetive when you reach 50%, anways good luck… just think about someone who has their CPA and tell yourself that if he/she can do it then you can too.. make the most out of this $200 you had to spend on this exam and dont let yourself fail by 2 points! π Just think of all those fit people at the gym and relate yourself to lifting mental weights.. if you worked out as hard as you study then you'd probably be a body builder.

Does it get any more hokey than to have a BIG COUNTDOWN for some who have waited more than a month to find out whether or not they've passed? The only thing that makes it even more terrible is knowing how slow NASBA is and that there's no way the scores will be released when the countdown reaches zero – given my luck I'll probably have to wait until 4:30 in the afternoon or something.
If these puppies aren't released at the stroke of 1AM Eastern, I have half a mind to call NASBA customer service the moment they open tomorrow and just piss and moan about how ridiculous this countdown is for as long as someone on the other end is willing to listen. That'll really show 'em.

February 4, 2015 at 3:40 am #645176AnonymousInactivemt3130 That is TOTALLY AWESOME! You must have a photographic memory or some other God-given gift to pass all 4 with only 120 hours of study time. I've already studied over 200 hours for REG – this includes the time I listened to the lectures and did homework problems.
February 4, 2015 at 4:00 am #645177mt3130MemberWell I have a little over 2 years of experience in public accounting doing all kinds of different things, and I think that has helped me significantly. One of the principals in my office is also an instructor for AuditSense (they teach best practices for audits to public accounting firms), so I would just discuss theoretical concepts and run through examples with him. I also have a tax principal in my office that taught tax law for many years in law school, so these guys know their stuff.
I do have a pretty good memory, but I think my study method really maximizes the amount of information I learn in the least amount of time, at least for me. I listened to 1 lecture on my first exam, and read one chapter, then realized they were a waste of time. When you follow the lectures (for Becker), you have a monstrous book, but the lecturer tells you to highlight like one or two things on each page. If that's the case, why is the information you didn't highlight in the book?
I just feel like the MCQs weed out all the junk that is very rarely tested, and it allows you to learn concepts and how they relate to each other. When you understand concepts, you can logically work your way through questions to decent scores. Also, knowing terms allows you to eliminate choices, which can help you answer questions correctly by process of elimination. You don't always have to know the right answer, you just have to know the other three are wrong lol.
