There has been a lot of talk about whether or not how you feel leaving the test center provides any indication of the score you actually receive once scores are released. I think it would be interesting to have everybody guess what score they got based on how they felt leaving the test center. In three weeks, we can look back to this post and see if there is any correlation between how you felt you did and the actual score you received.

Not too far off. I'm not exactly sure how some of you have 20 point swings between prediction and actual. Kudos to those who were somewhat close on their predictions.

I think you can get a general sense of where you stand after taking the test. I have seen a ton of “i thought I failed miserably, but I somehow got an 88.” I'm not sure I buy that anymore. Let's try to be honest with ourselves when we walk out of tests. Yes, the test is hard. Its supposed to be. But try to assess how you did on your test relative to how others did on the same exam. Your score is not a straight percentage based on how many you got right. At the end of the day, its curved (yeah – weighted by difficulty – whatever – its curved) and you are only as good or as bad in relation to how everyone else did.

Just to show how unpredictable this thing is, the first time I took BEC, here is my prediction vs actual

Prediction: 93 (I didn't think I missed more than 4 or 5 questions total)

prediction on pg1 was AUD 77-82, actual 95. coming out of exam i was pretty sure i'd passed but struggled in a few areas (tbs)

FAR: Predicted = 76; Acutal = 91

Obviously I miscacluated quite a bit on my FAR score…I am usually a glass half empty kind of guy, that combined with the low confidence I had in my MCQ performance (especially in the second testlet) made me think I might have just squeaked by. The scoring works in mysterious ways I guess…but I'm not going to complain!! 😀
