Regulation would be my last exam. I have passed all three in my first attempt, however I do not have the same kind of feeling for REG. At this point I have finished reading all the chapters and I am focusing on multiple choice questions. I am using Becker. I have question regarding Ancillary material in Becker. ( Chapter 4, ethichs and legislative procedure ). This stuff is about 45 pages, almost a whole chapter. I know this isimportant too. But I do not want to go through it like I have done for other material. I was planning to just do the question in the Becker software and if I get wrong then read the book realted to that topic only. My question is how did you guys prepare for this particular section ( Ancillary material ) I guess becker has done the worst job putting these together as Ancillary. For me Ancillary means read it if you have time. But I have read people comments here that it is important and I should not ignore them. I will definitely go through the question in Becker and may be just read the realted topic to the questions. Would that be enough? How is Jeff Ninja Notes in regards to this Anicillary material. I really do not want to memorize them line by line. I think it would be a waste of time. Instead I would spend that time being comfortable in other topics. Please advise how to tackle this..Thanks

Read the Ancillary for REG! It is very important. I had several questions relating to the ancillary. Read it once now as you're going through the material, then read again before your exam. Also, Becker has a youtube video on that section you're referring to, they go over the main points. But from experience-taking REG twice, I would read everything in the ancillary, not just what Becker says to read! Good luck!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Study the ancillary material just as hard as you do the rest of it. There's no way I would have passed REG without doing so.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

As Peanut suggested, read everything, then check out Becker's Ancillary YouTube vids. I provided links below:

https://goo.gl/geW2l = Federal Tax Procedures and Legislative Process

https://goo.gl/PMXf7 = Ethics and Professional Responsibilities in Tax Practice.

I'd also recommend spending about 2-3 hours going through the following link, which provides a fairly sizable list of corrections / adjustments to the 2011 Becker books / lectures:

    https://goo.gl/7Ql7d

The link above also has a list of recently released AICPA REG questions (40 random REG questions) (LINK = https://goo.gl/FMTzn). These contain a few questions related to the ancillary material.

    Hope this helps!

After taking REG I would tell you to treat it as if the Becker book has no ancillary sections at all. Treat it no different than the other sections and study it accordingly. Especially, the material from Chapter 4. I got around studying the Chapter 4 ancillary as in depth as I did the chapters by focusing on the note cards from that chapter's ancillary material, which proved to be very beneficial on the date of the test. On the other exams that I have taken I have hardly seen any of the material related to the ancillary sections tested. I had heard that the ancillary was extremely important for Reg on several forums a couple of weeks before I took the test so I focused extra attention on it leading up to the exam date. Honestly, it may have made a difference in passing or failing for me.
