I think it would be interesting to see what people think is the most curved and the least curved. So, based on your experience, rank the sections from most curved to least curved.

    I’ll go first….

    FAR

    AUD

    BEC

    REG

Are you saying you left 4 sims blank? If so, then yes, your chances of passing are not good. I would try to take a different section by May 31st. Then use June to study for your FAR retake.

Thanks for the reply minimorty!! I was also thinking that my chances of passing were very, very, slim..but I dont really know too much about the grading/curve on the CPA, so I guess I just needed a confirmation of what I was thinking. 🙁

Sounds like a 74. The AICPA seems to like to give that grade whenever you perform well on MCQs but poorly on Sims.

I don't understand why anyone would leave any sim blank. You have a clock…. If it says you have 5 mins left then go through the 4 sims and throw ANYTHING in there. Even zeros… You might get 1-2 more points out of it and that could be the difference between a 74 and a 75.

It only hurts you to do nothing…

@CPAMan Nope, not always. I performed “stronger” on the SIMS and “comparable/weaker” on the MCQ and got a 74 on Audit.

@CPAman or anyone else who has taken Aud once (or more) and failed, then took it again and did very well. I wanted to know if you did things differently 2nd time around studying or just payed more attention to little details. The first time I took AUD I studied full time for a month and failed with a 73. I know have studied for another month doing some things differently and trying to really understand each area. I really feel AUD is going to be the hardest section for me. Took BEC and passed the first time. I hear a lot of people say AUD is the hardest. I believe that is true because of the little details and small variations between key points. Good luck to all. Take this beast/(b&*ch) again Friday 4/20. Hoping it's the last time I ever see a lot of this stuff.

@onefreakingpoint I agree, my score report said stronger on sims and weaker on MC. I scored 73 on audit. For what it's worth, I felt I did the opposite. My sims were so hard/out in left field I was positive they either a. did not grade them all or b. I bombed the ones they label pre-test. Either way, I'm taking AUD again Friday and I better get a 75. I've never studied one topic so much in my entire life and still received a failing score. The volume of AUDITING information that COULD BE tested is staggering. I hate it!

@BARF – Good luck! You can do it!! My 74 was great motivation for me and I nailed it the second time around. Hope you experience the same!!

@oneFREAKINGpoint thanks and a few more questions. How did you feel your exam experience was the 2nd time (were your sims or multiple choice easier or harder?) What did you score?

Why can't we get our scores within 48 hours of sitting for an exam?

@BARF – I got an 83. I though the SIMs had about the same mix of difficulty as they did the first time around. But I felt like I had a better handle on them when I sat the second time (e.g. noticing little tricks that the examiners threw into the question that I might not have noticed the first time around). On the MCQ I didn't notice the questions getting harder, per se, but I definitely was noticing a lot more “trick questions” and obscure topics in the last two testlets when I sat the second time around. (Maybe trickier = harder for Audit?) One thing that I think REALLY helped me was writing out each and every opinion in my book and highlighting what was different about it from the standard opinion. It took some time, but it let me see all of the opinions side by side, make comparisons, etc. Audit is a lot of info, but you can get it. Keep your head up and you will pass!!

@onefreakingpoint Thanks for all the great advice! I hope to pass and good luck to you on your tests as well (if you have any left!)

@BARF- Every time I had to retake a failed section, I always started from scratch. I review all the topics again and practice with additional questions.

@oneFREAKINGpoint- That's exactly my point. If you're stronger in MCQs and weaker on Sims or vice versa, the AICPA will most likely fail you with a 74. They seem to not want to give you that passing grade because they expect you to perform well on both areas. I guess they feel that if you can't do well on either the MCQs or Sims, then you're not qualified to be a CPA and thus, don't deserve to pass.
