Well…happy early birthday, and hopefully AICPA doesn't mess things up, so that you can get that closure on your birthday! I am taking my (hopefully) last exam the last weekend before my birthday, and thought I would complete my experience requirement in that week before my birthday, too, but it looks like I will be about 3 hours short, due to changing jobs…so I almost got to join the finishing-CPA-with-a-birthday crowd! I'll at least be close…wonder if I can get 3 hours OT between now and then… 😉

Haha, you should ask about 3 OT hours! See if someone can work with you on that! That would be a bugger to get it all done and then be jusssst short of it being “official” due to those hours!

Hey I don't know if you ever saw, but maybe a week or so ago I saw where you said you passed FAR, using the Wiley book, in 5 weeks. and I asked HOW THE F did you get through that book in 5 weeks?? It's like 1100 pages! I studied about 50 hours and got like…… 30% through the book. It's overwhelming, especially if that's your main study material. I have since (for the past week) been using my Gleim materials because they are a little more “piece meal” and have the online lectures, which are a little less DRY than the Wiley textbook. However, I've had such good success with the Wiley book that I find it hard to totally drop! Advice, comments?? Were you studying 8+ hours a day? 😛

    lol no I didn't see where you'd asked…sorry.

Reading through the book was just literally reading through the book, and I did the actual reading in approx 25-30 hours. I didn't feel like I understood everything, but I'd read over everything. I wasn't studying 8+ hours – never can focus that long! I'd have 1 or 2 days a week that I was off work and focused on school, which would mean 5-ish hours of reading. Then maybe an hour or two on some weekday evenings. So, took about 3-3.5 weeks to read through the book, then about 1.5-2 weeks for review (WTB questions, I think I got all but like 100 or so of them done), and I put in more hours per week during review. But I won't deny that the Wiley FAR book is ridiculously dry! And long. I went through and counted up the pages of actual material (not counting MCQs, SIMs, etc) and felt a *bit* better about it after seeing those slightly-smaller numbers…like just 700 pages or so instead of 1100. 😛 As for advice for you… If you feel like you're learning well from Gleim, maybe use that as your main resource and just read the Wiley chapters that you feel “iffy” on after reading hte concepts in Gleim. 🙂

And…I'm starting a new job, and they're backed up cause they're short a person, so if I'm useful, I might get the OT time. 🙂 If I seem like a burden cause I'm new, then I won't. 😐 So gotta be awesome. lol.
