Q2 score release…August 16th – 18th??????

    Excuse me if I’m not informed on any of the latest updates/info… but apparently there is going to be a 10-week delay in the score release for all candidates taking the exam in Q2. The release date is August 16 – 18th.

    I am absolutely stunned that I will not be able to find out my score for an exam I take in April until August. I may end up losing my AUD credit in May if I don’t pass my exams in April.

    If you take an exam in April and fail, it doesn't matter if you find out in May, August, or December….you'd still lose the credit….

    The waiting sucks, but losing credit in Q3 would be way worse

    @CPA the third

    Sorry, but I totally disagree.

    Assume I failed either BEC or FAR in April. This will cause my AUD to expire in May. Now if the scores were posted normally, I'd have some time to take re-take AUD before the Q2 window ends. Now fast forward to the Q3 testing window… all of July is essentially blacked out now. An entire month of a window I could use to take 1 or 2 exams is not available because of the delayed scored release. It's a mess.

    Yup, a mess. I hope nobody will lose credit for those previously passed and perhaps the AICPA will make some allowances for this in the end.

    BTW peoples, if you have other exams to take in Q3, DO NOT WAIT to get your score for the one(s) you take in Q2! People may tell you “Don't take any others until you pass FAR/REG” but that is **not advice you want to follow.** Take the ones you planned to in Q2, then continue to study and take the ones you planned to do in Q3. Yes, it's a long score release period but sitting around and waiting for your score is not a good idea.

    @jonm857

    I'm not sure if I'm understanding your situation correctly, but if you failed in April, you wouldn't be able to retake the test in May. You can't retake a test in the same quarter you failed it. So you would have to wait to Q3 to retake regardless of when scores are released. But yes, the 10 week wait is going to suck

    @jonm857 do you have special privilege to take a test more than once in a window?

    If not, I'd take one of them in the beginning of April and the other at the end of May. Release date is the same and you have another 2 months to study…

    @crazyleon-totally agree. I am taking AUD in the beginning of April, and studying for REG to take it in the beginning of July, and then going to move onto FAR, regadless of what happens with the other two. I passed BEC in January, so tick tock!

    I do not have any special privelege to take an exam twice. I was referring to the fact that I cant take AUD again (because it will expire) in Q2 if I fail BEC or FAR.

    jon if you fail an exam in April the soonest you'd be able to retake that same section under even a normal score release is July 1. You wouldn't ever have been allowed to retake it in Q2 unfortunately.

    Every seems to be misunderstanding what Jon is saying. He has already passed AUD. If for some reason he fails one of the remaining tests he will lose his AUD credit due to the score release. If the score release was happening sooner he could try to squeeze in AUD in Q2 and then take the section he failed in Q3 and be done hopefully.

    First go at the CPA! Only using Becker

    Bec / May 2016 - 80

    This is the e-mail that I sent the AICPA and state board. My situation is similar to Jons but a little different. The only solutions to this is for all credits to be extended by at least 3 months. I encourage everyone to email their state boards and the AICPA to express how this hurts them. State board email address will vary by state. AICPA e-mail address I used is cpaexam@aicpa.org

    “My name is XXXXXX and I am currently in the process of taking the CPA exams. I have passed BEC and REG and am scheduled to take AUD in early April and FAR in late May. I saw today that any test taken in Q2 will not have the scores released until August 16-18th. The score release date is towards the end of Q3. Could you please explain to me how I will know which exam to prepare for (provided I failed one or two of them) and how I will even register and schedule one of the exams for Q3? My BEC expires June 30th, which is essentially the end of May as June is a non-testing month. With the delayed score release date, the AICPA is essentially removing Q3 as a potential testing quarter for me, which will then put my REG credit in jeopardy and further delay my ability to pass these exams. And I am sure I am not the only one in this predicament. Does the Ohio State Board of Accounting intend on extending the 18 month testing window to accommodate for this?”

    Either way, I would much rather have a shot in Q2 of being completely done instead of having to wait until August to see a failing score and have 3 weeks to turn it around and pass what would be my last shot.

    Sure, its preferable. But I wont know until August 16th if I am a CPA or three exams away from CPA. And I wont know in June, July or August if I should be spending my time studying or patting myself on the back for the hard work. The whole thing is ridiculous. I hope they dont test me on integrity because it seems that the AICPA no longer requires it.

    I just emailed my state board to see if they would extend my audit expiration date and the admin said they bring up the issue at the next board meeting. I think they'll work with me. I encourage everybody in a similar situation to do the same.

    When does your Reg credit expire?

    Lets say you passed both BEC and FAR in April, you're good to go.

    If for some reason you needed to retake BEC or FAR you also need to retake AUD. Even if you got scores back mid may, are you saying you'd try to take AUD in may and retake either BEC or FAR in Q3? Three exams in one window is too ambitious IMHO. Of course your chances of taking anything in Q3 are slim (by the time you found out your BEC or FAR scores would be mid-late aug and you'd have to get a new NTS as well as book a seat in pretty short order).

    Realistically take as much time off work as you can or whatever you need to do do pass both in April, you're between a rock and a hard place and don't have a moment to consider anything except those two exams right now.
