Hey I know this is gonna sound like a self centered question but I’ll ask it anyways

I have no relevant experience in accounting and I’m looking for a job in public accounting, I understand that your suppose to put that you put what sections you passed as a highlight of your resume, but should you include your score too if your proud of it (92)? I know this isn’t a great question to ask but I need an opinion

    FAR 92
    AUD 91
    BEC 11/06/2011
    REG 02/01/2012

I think it is funny that some people are hating on the idea of putting your scores on your resume but on your signature you have things like “Passed on the 1st try”

Anyways, I wouldn't put the score on my resume even if I made a 99 on every part. If I received a special award, I would put that down and that can speak for itself. I disagree about receipt grads putting their GPA on the resume. In Texas, you pretty much have to have a good GPA, if you don't put it on your resume, most employers will assume you have a bad GPA. I believe that the GPA can help you get your foot in the door. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how high your GPA is or how high you CPA examine scores are, personality will win in the end. Interviews are not to see how smart you are, they are to see if you are going to fit in the organization as a person, not as a test score.

@akb – Are you suggesting that a signature line on an anonymous internet forum and a resume you hand to a potential employer should be treated the same?

I guess I thought it was funny because the majority thought it comes across arrogant when you put a score down on a resume but I thought it was arrogant to say “Passed all section first try” maybe I am just jealous that I wasn't able to do that πŸ™‚ again just entertained by it…possibly due to lack of sleep and jet lag from traveling for work. No offense meant to any one.

my .02, if you can't explain with 100% certainty how the score was calculated (which none of us can do) then its pointless to put the score out there on your resume.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

@akb – Putting “passed on 1st try” is a little bit cocky/arrogant, but on an anonymous internet forum there is really nothing wrong with that. I just wanted to draw the distinction that there are two vastly different sets of protocols for hanging out on an internet forum and putting your resume in front of a potential employer. Funny enough, I looked at a resume of a candidate last week who put “passed on first try” on his resume! We chose not to consider this person for the position because of this.

This is a CPA forum and we share all kinds of necessary and unnecessary information regarding the CPA exams.

The resume, in my opinion, should include only necessary information. Employers don't care about your exam grades or how many times it took you to pass. The only thing of importance is your CPA license.

I put my NTS number and expected pass date, license date & hire date. NTS will show I'm legit and the recruiter will take me seriously

    NEW YORK- DONE
