    Hey I know this is gonna sound like a self centered question but I’ll ask it anyways

    I have no relevant experience in accounting and I’m looking for a job in public accounting, I understand that your suppose to put that you put what sections you passed as a highlight of your resume, but should you include your score too if your proud of it (92)? I know this isn’t a great question to ask but I need an opinion

    Ultimately Minmorty is right. Getting high scores is great, and feel free to let the world know if you like. But a CPA is a CPA. There is no designation for a CPA90 and a CPA75. I think the top 10 CPA test scores are recognized. So…unless you are planning on trying to shoot for that, work within the results of your first exam score to manage your studying habits and future testing experiences.

    BEC - 71, 74, 77 (Feb - 2011)
    FAR - 73, 78 (Feb - 2011)
    REG - 83 (Nov 2010)
    AUD - 71, 84 (May 2011) - Done!! CPA licensed in TX (July 2011)

    The problem with putting it on there is that most partners may have squeaked by with a 75 on the old exam, know nothing about the new exam.

    There are a lot of stubborn people who passed the CPA back in the day with just a 75 (most common score)

    There may be a sense of stubborness/disdain for people like us taking it today with higher scores

    Therefore leave it off

    It's a GREAT SCORE, and indicates IMO you can pass the other parts w/o too much difficulty

    So Concentrate instead on PASSING the other parts

    Good luck!

    I generally do agree with the article that the point is that is not indicative of how people work, but I also decided to put it on the resume because I think it has the same effect as putting “Cum Laude” and GPA on it. As I stated before, I wanted to use it as a hook and not as a “oh I'll be great as a auditor”. Having no experience I feel this is one of the best ways I know how to get noticed, I know you don't agree (which I understand), but after asking around (ie a partner in a firm, a senior in LA and a retired accounting recruiter from NY) they seemed to think it will help more than it hurts and it is part of “selling yourself”

    Cool. Just reading the blog post reminded me of this thread. Just one point though. You dont earn “Cum Laude” or a 4.0 GPA by getting an A on one final exam.

    I wouldn't put your scores on your resume unless you scored all 90s or were an Elijah Watt Sells winner…that's just me though.

    Simply state that you have *Passed one section of the CPA exam; in progress with three remaining section.

    Definitely no need to list the actual score. 75 is as good as 99.

    I say not to put your score on your resume. It'll make you seem like… well.. THAT guy, as stated in the first response to this post.

    CPA = CPA

    75 = 99

    BEC: 70, 82
