Hey I know this is gonna sound like a self centered question but I’ll ask it anyways

I have no relevant experience in accounting and I’m looking for a job in public accounting, I understand that your suppose to put that you put what sections you passed as a highlight of your resume, but should you include your score too if your proud of it (92)? I know this isn’t a great question to ask but I need an opinion

    FAR 92
    AUD 91
    BEC 11/06/2011
    REG 02/01/2012

@rknight21 and @eartzi… agreed… But aren't most people in public?

I guess my personal viewpoint is that there is no harm in waiting until you are in the interview room to bring it up. Nobody is going to give you or not give you an interview based on your CPA Exam score. They're going to base it off experience & education. They'd want to know that you ARE pursuing your CPA, but getting an interview would not center around your score.

    FAR: 84
    AUD: 95
    REG: 78
    BEC: 88
    ETHICS: 100

I sincerely agree with those who say leave it off…at the end of the day, you will have the same 3 letters after your name as someone who scored a 75! I also think mnCPAwannabe makes a point about a score in the 90s actually meaning you tried too hard…I mean, that is how some people see it…not me, but you never know how your potential employer will feel…

I don't think it is correct to compare your GPA to your exam score…they don't mean the same thing at all…

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

Leave the score off for sure. Put “Actively pursuing CPA license,” and mention your current status on that goal (passed FAR, etc.) I have studied hard for these exams for sure….but when I see scores in the high 90s, the facts usually point to an unemployed individual with no BF/GF, children, or other important obligations. High 90s are awesome scores, but often are a result of over-preparing and waisting time…..just sayin. But on the other hand, rather safe then sorry, right?!?! I hope my AUD score is in the 90s so I can say I overprepared while married with children, a job, and a life. GL to all!

    BEC - 71, 74, 77 (Feb - 2011)
    FAR - 73, 78 (Feb - 2011)
    REG - 83 (Nov 2010)
    AUD - 71, 84 (May 2011) - Done!! CPA licensed in TX (July 2011)

I think you are looking for excuses for not getting the 92 the original poster got……

Show me one person taking this exam that fits this description. Because there are very few people, especially CPA hopefuls, with no important obligations. Maybe they had more ambition and foresight to pass all four parts before taking on all those ‘important obligations' so kudos to them!

I say put that score on your application. If your resume is thrown out because the interviewer can't handle a little confidence in his/her office or someone who might be smarter then they are, you probably don't want to work for that type of person anyway.

“Show me one person taking this exam that fits this description.”

Seriously? There are a TON of kids just out of school taking these tests. Most of the 21-24 year olds taking the exam dont have a job yet, arent involved in a serious relationship, and certainly dont have children. Grades on the exam really dont matter for job applications. As an employer, why would I care if you are a rock star in governemt/not for profit and pensions if the job requires you to be a rock star in another specialty?

Whether you agree or not with that viewpoint, it exists out there and is quite common. I know multiple people just out of school with nothing to do scoring in the 90s. In fact, a friend of mine just received a 94 on AUD and he himself states that's all he did for a month.

Bottom line really is that 94 is only good for 18 months, and all other parts are passed. Degree & GPA are forever.
