Hey I know this is gonna sound like a self centered question but I’ll ask it anyways

I have no relevant experience in accounting and I’m looking for a job in public accounting, I understand that your suppose to put that you put what sections you passed as a highlight of your resume, but should you include your score too if your proud of it (92)? I know this isn’t a great question to ask but I need an opinion

    FAR 92
    AUD 91
    BEC 11/06/2011
    REG 02/01/2012

I wouldn't put my scores nor my GPA in my resume even if I were to initially hunt for jobs. I'll just put my experiences, skill set, and that's it. That's the only thing the employers are interested in. Scores are a means to get your CPA license. I'll disclose my scores when I'm asked during the interview process. Otherwise, I won't.

    FAR - 92 02/2013
    AUD - 90 05/2013
    REG - 85 10/2013
    BEC - 80 12/2013

    I'M DONE. THANK YOU LORD!

I had a resume come across my desk with CPA scores on it. Very good scores actually. All 90s. What this told me; arrogance, I’m better than you, not only did I pass the exam, but look how good I am.

Putting your scores screams narcissism. I wanted to shred the resume, but my boss wanted to interview this person. So we did and the interview went fine, but we just had a feeling that we couldn’t shake so we passed. Don’t give an employer any reason to think you are something that you are not.

Put the sections you have passed or CPA if you have passed all four.

In reality I'd never put my CPA scores on my resume because I do understand the politics involved, but after looking at this thread, I'm tempted to just to weed out all those insecure employers who can't deal with a little “arrogance”.

I also take issue with any people who claim that the only goal is to pass the exam. Bullshit. The goal is to become a knowledgable, competent accountant and the exam merely provides evidence of that. To say that that the only goal is to pass diminishes the value of the actual content we're supposed to be learning.

    FAR - 71, 94
    BEC - 91
    REG - 51, 88
    AUD - 89

Jfreelov, how many of your exam scores are you tempted to put on your resume hypothetically speaking. Why am I thinking you'd leave off 1/3 of the scores you've received.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

Why would I show any but the non-fails? If asked about my scores in an interview though, I'd be able to explain that I did take FAR and REG as a scouting exercise and studied exactly zero hours for them.

lol. I'm just ribbing you. Funny though how you're concerned about employers who can't deal with a little “arrogance” there would be no display of humility.

My point was really this is why the scores don't really matter to an employer in the first place unless you walked away with an EWS award.

Passing the CPA exam is much like passing a kidney stone. You're not awarded style points for a successful passing. All that matters is that the pain is over.

    REG - 89
    FAR - 84
    AUD - 73, 86
    BEC - 89

    GA Licensed CPA

Wow, old thread. A month ago I applied for an internship as a corporate tax accountant for a very large tourism based company. I wanted to put down that I passed 2 sections (at the time) of the CPA exam. I asked my boyfriend to look it over for me and he said I should put in the scores since they were so high. I felt like many of you did that it would look “arrogant” but I eventually took his advice and put my scores in. I figured it might show that I was dedicated and would put more merit/weight on the fact that I said “I am on track to complete the other two sections by January next year.” I was not able to go to a face-to-face interview due to the interviews being scheduled on my REG exam date, so I asked if I could schedule for another date. Did a phone interview and got the job right on the spot… so, I don't know, it might not be a bad idea after all..
