    Hi All,

For those of us that have tests in expiring in Q3, the scoring delay for Q2 will likely prevent some of us from taking the test in Q3 before our tests expire.

As a result, you might only have 1 chance at a retest when you should have 2 for Q2 and Q3.

I emailed the PA State Board asking if an extension would be given like the NASB person whom I was talking to told me to ask. The board responded that NO extension will be given to PA test takers for that reason.

I was curious if anyone elses state had ruled on this matter? No extension seemed harsh for those of us that this affects. If your state did provide a grace period or extension, could you point me in the direction of the material that says when or why your state ruled on this matter?

    REG: Late April/Early May 2016.

I've said this all along, it's all about collecting more fees. The state board sits back and says the AICPA provided candidates sufficient notice regarding the changes. They will not provide you sufficient notice of extensions because they want candidates to test right now in fear of not receiving an extension. Rushed testers = more $ in application fees and exams fees. How many people do you think are out there giving a hailmarry attempt in Q1? A ton!

I completely agree with your Norseman. Im working tax season and trying to take AUD and FAR in Q2 for this very reason. Ive decided that this exam has very little to do with your skills as an accountant and a whole lot to do with how much time and money you have to put in to it. I can say with absolute certainty that I wont be a better accountant after passing it, just a more expensive one.

The process of the CPA exam is harder than the CPA exam

Unless it's a completely unpredictable circumstance (ie. weather), they will likely not grant an extension. Not sure, but i'm pretty sure that they might grant an extension, due to a recent death in the family; they would probably require proof of this though.

I was granted an extension on the NTS because my test got cancelled due to snow. I would imagine they would push the test expiration itself back, if something like this were to happen.

B=84 This exam was such a b**** that I thought I failed-don't know how these things work
A=76 Slacker I am, I'll happily take it
    R=81 I LOVE taxes
F=80 I don't wanna get banned for an expletive I'm thinking with "yea" proceeding it

I'm PA too. Hopefully I will only have one test left to pass after Thursday, and I have until November, but that's complete bullshit. Effectively, in a perfect world, if I pass REG that leaves FAR. I'll take it in May, but will have to study all summer just in case, hope I can get a NTS in time to take it at the end of August/beginning of September just to not lose a window. I would also question the ethics involved in this decision, because, well, there are none. I also have special accommodations though, so worst case scenario I wonder if I can possibly get an extension if need be (hopefully not) after talking to my doctor.

    BEC - exp 2/28/13 (crap)
    AUD - exp 11/30/13

All, in light of the post NASBA posted which says they will consider extensions for applicants in June/July, I've been talking to the PA State Board. The Admin Officer I've been talking to said she'll bring up my concerns to the Board in their April meeting.

    I suggested 1 of 2 possible solutions.

    1) All Q3 exams are extended to Sept 2017. This will give many applicants the chance to receive an NTS between mid-August until the last testing day in September.

    2) The option of extending your expiration into Q4, but you are unable to test in Q3. This ensures no one double dips by delaying their expiration to Q4 but still sneak a Q3 test in late August.

Hopefully something comes out of this and we dont all get screwed haha. Thanks for all of your posts.

I got a response from the OH State Board. Here it is:

“We are aware candidates testing in the 2Q 2017 launch window will be impacted by the 10‐week delay in score reporting. We are also aware if scores are received August 14, 2017, candidates may be unable to retake any failed sections in 3Q 2017. You may be able to request a grade extension in the event a situation occurs where it is necessary due to the delay of grade reporting for the second quarter test window (April-June). The Board of Accountancy is the only entity with the authority to grant extensions for expiring conditional credit. Extensions of credit are handled on an individual case by case basis.

We will work closely with NASBA in June and July to identify all candidates testing in 2Q 2017 with existing conditional credit who will be impacted by the delay and consideration given to extending their conditional credit.

Candidates testing in 3Q and 4Q will receive scores on September 22, 2017 and December 22, 2017 respectively, and would have ample opportunity to test in the next testing window

I hope this information is helpful. I wish you great success on the exam!”

Well, it sounds like some of the states are at least trying to sound accomodating…

    CMA - 430
    BEC - 83
    FAR - ?
    AUD -
    REG -
