Hi, I got the report yesterday but can’t believe it.

I got a 72 so failed but I can’t understand my report as below.

Corporate governance(16-20%) Comparable

Economic concepts & analysis(16-20%) Comparable

Financial management(19-23%) Stronger

Information systems(15-19%). Stronger

Strategic planning(10-14%). Weaker

Operational management(12-16%). Comparable

MC(85%). Stronger

W/C(15%). Weaker

Those above are what I’ve got but how I could get only a 72???

I have had the same score at the same BEC but it was worse than this one.

So….Would u please comment on it like….

It could happen or it’s strange so I need to appeal or something….

Never appeal, you will never win. I think the “the curve” for bec is not as nice as other exams and people tend to do better on bec. Go back and study like you scored a 50 and practice as many mcq as possible. Good luck.

a 72 is a tough one to swallow. I know, because I just swallowed (more like choked on one this week from REG) . My report was the same as yours, but with REG topics. Only 1 weaker in mcq and then weaker in sims. I think the process of appeal is fairly non -productive. In that, I think the success of wining an appeal is pretty low. I don't mean to be a downer, I know you are probably still reeling from your score (I know I am), but the honest truth is that there is a very remote chance of winning an appeal. My advice would be to finish being upset, mad, and sad, and then pick yourself up and figure out your game plan and move on. You will get there!

I had a 74 last window. Strategic planning was my weaker area too (plus WC, of course…)

I don't see how you can have a Stronger on the total MC with 3 Comparable, 1 Weaker, and only 2 Stronger areas. But you never know.

Most likely, you totally bombed the strategic planning and the WC.

You'll pass next time 🙂

My advice is work on your WC. that will push you over the edge! If you are overall stronger on MC, you must have done poorly on WC. Do a sample and have friends/colleagues review it to determine how you can improve your grammar and writing in general.

Also, be sure not to read too much into the score, just look at the stronger/weaker. They never make sense in comparison to the score. Just improve on your weaker areas.

The score reports are a joke for BEC I got weaker in MCQ and Stronger on WC and ended up with a 74.

But I have one more question…

I haven't got any higher one than ‘Weaker'

When I wrote down all written questions as I practiced it was weak always.

So I have no idea to make the score improved….

Believe it or not…I had weaker MC and Stronger in WC

I had two weaker areas, econ and op. mgmt

I had only one stronger and 3 comparable

and I got a 78

Let's just say the report has no meaning at all

I wonder how weaker you were on the WC. Since it's 15 points, that could've made a difference between a passing and failing score. Make sure you always format your WC with 3 paragraphs (into, body and conclusion) and make sure it's a reasonable length (around 3-4 sentences per paragraph). In the past when I failed and my WCs were too short, I would always end up Weaker. But then when I started formatting it into 3 paragraphs and lengthened it a bit, I finally ended up Comparable.

But with a better performance on the MCQs, you should still pass. When I took BEC, I got so caught up on my MCQs that I ended up with only 30 minutes to write 3 WCs. I was so short of time that I didn't have time to even proofread my last WC. That probably hurt my score a bit, but I still passed.

I noticed you were Weaker on Strategic planning. Perhaps you were heavily tested in that area and that's what killed your score.

But whatever the case is, you need to study everything again and like Zizoty said, study as if you got a 50. Because if you only study enough to get 3 more points, you may end up with another 72 mainly because each exam is different. Study as if you want to improve your score from a 72 to a 90. Most of the time, the exams will be harder than we expect, so it never hurts to aim high….. even as high as 99 (even though that may be close to impossible).

Also, please note that the Performance Report is comparing your scores to candidates that scored 75-80. So, your performance is not compared to smart people like Minimorty who scored over an 80. So, for all we know, your MCQ performance could've been weaker than those candidates that scored over an 80. So, what I'm basically saying is that the Performance Report is completely useless. Ignore it and just keep studying and then retake next window.

One thing that I really couldn't get was my MC is stronger which is given a 85% weight but I failed.

Well… I can't help it. Try harder and do everything I can until I get through….:)

It is all a mystery, I got a 74 in FAR and my report was 2 weaker, 2 comparable and 1 stronger (areas). Weaker in MCQ's and comparable in SIMS…You tell me with all the 2 weaker and 2 comparable that, how I got a 74. In comparison with your report, I should have gotten a lower score……..I guess it is base on the performance of others taking the same exam within the same time frame.

Reese, I hate to admit this but it is true. Sometimes it is just luck. Overstudy does not guarante a 99. You are strong on IT is good(not many people are strong at that) work on the weak area on MC and study for WC, such as, read a few of sample WC sims and know how to address the topic. You will pass the next time!
