Online Score vs. Final Score

This is my first time taking a section, and a friend told me in passing that the score released online is your preliminary score, and then they email/mail you final documentation in a few days afterward. Has anyone ever had the score released online differ from the final score received in the mail/email? I am assuming not, but this is my first test and I failed by 1 point!! I’m so disappointed and annoyed that this one point is causing me to fail. Any hope or should I just hit the books?

I also received my score for the first exam; just to clarify, they also email/mail documentation to you stating your score? Just want to clarify. Thanks
