@passing_score: Nope not there yet. I'm finishing audit 1. I am a tax person, so audit scares me–especially the words Internal Control. Does Peter Olinto teach any Audit classes?
Tim G alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way for AUDIT. Try counting how many times he says “again”.. that might keep you interested.
My 2nd time around, I found it better to avoid the lectures and only read the chapters and do MCQ again.
Nope, Gearity does the entire audit section. Not sure how long its been since you had an audit class, but so far its all review of what was covered in my undergrad audit class so hopefully most of it will come back to you quickly. The questions are still tricky though, despite the fact that the material is all very familiar. Good luck to you!
@CPA Someday see, for me, it would all depend on the study style. the one part I didn't watch the lectures for is the one part I failed. However, I also didn't spend as much time studying. 🙁
@CPA Someday: I have contemplated not watching the videos and just getting the notes from the print outs. Did you just read the chapters and answer MCQs only? Also, is the ancillary material very important for audit?
I just can't NOT listen to the lectures because if I subsequently failed, I would always think that MAYBE if I had listened to the lectures I wouldn't have failed. So far, my study process has been: Listen to a lecture and take notes (I divide them up into the smaller sections, not the whole section 1, etc at a time), re-read my notes and the book material, do the MC questions, repeat until I'm done with the course. Then I start working through the notecards. Concurrently, I'm also re-reading the book and notes I took and re-doing all the MCQ. Then I do the final exams. However, since I took my first two sections this window and we don't have scores yet, I can't tell you if my method has worked or not.
Thank you for the advice. For reg, I watched most of the lectures except for the first two on individuals. For FAR and BEC, I mixed and matched. I wish I had scores to see if it worked. Since I am weakest in AUD, I am going to attempt Jeff's NINJA idea of watching then hand writing notes. I have never done all the mcq, so I should probably try that. Also, I used Jeff's noted for FAR and they were awesome. I will definitely buy his AUD notes.
@passing_score_please your strategy is very similar to mine! and I also refuse to not watch the lecture cause i'd feel awful if I failed. I just got past AUD 3. Yay Internal Controls… What I have been doing is listening to the lecture, pausing to read what he will go over next and taking notes that I can then use to review. I hadn't been taking notes or fully reading each page before. I used to just do the lectures (that didn't work for AUD last time) So far I have been doing significantly better in my MC Quetions! I have seen immense improvement from last time.
Hopefully I will keep it up and be a lot more ready this time around
I didn't really use any of the formal programs. I put the Wiley study notes with Anita Feller (still makes me think of a prank phone call) and freecpareview.com Failing aud wasn't for lack of preparation, but rushing to take the exam on my lunch break because I was told I couldn't take a half day from work like I had planned. Very upsetting!
@cev – I'm not suggesting scores won't be released on the 31st as I honestly have no idea, but I really believe that is a CYA statement. NASBA and AICPA have repeatedly stated that the only official time line comes from them. They have refused to be specific – therefore, any date between now and the 31st is fair game. The Texas site likely put that up to minimize the contact from candidates asking about score release dates. I'd do the same thing if I were them…
Yeah, I'd say that too if I were one of the state boards. But I'd also be wondering why in the hell the AICPA couldn't get it together. We can send folks to the moon, yet we can't grade an exam in a timely manner. For crying out loud! T-rex is ANGRY with the AICPA!
AUD - 95, BEC - 85
REG - 85, Rawrrrrrr FAR - 88
Used Becker for all sections.
