I used Yaegar for AUD. I thought they did a good job. I had already passed AUD once using Bisk, but I grew to really like the Yaeger approach when I used them for REG so I gave them another shot when it came time to refresh for AUD. I though I was prepared well for both. Of course, the proof is in the pudding so whenever our AICPA/NASBA friends get around to letting me know if I did better than half of you fine folks, I'll let you know the final verdict. But as of right now, I felt both exams were very fair after having used Yaeger and feel like I gave myself a great shot at passing by using their product.
Does anyone, using Becker or Yaeger feel like the SIMS in the review material were adequate for the SIMS on the real exam? I for 1 found my SIMS in Wiley to be nothing like the real exam.
It's funny how NASBA said that they will release all “official” information, but yet they still haven't released any info. Yet, you go on Illinois Board of Examiners website and they show scores will be released between the 21-25. Still unofficial, but at least it's new information.
Now here is the NASBA “Official” information from facebook…
“We do not have a date of release. Feel free to read some of our older posts.”
Paper Exam May 2002; AUD 62, LPR, 63, FAR 49, ARE 70
Paper Exam Nov 2003; AUD 72, LPR, 72, FAR 67, ARE 71
CBT 2010; AUD 83 FAR 76 BEC 78 REG 73,(2/28/11 NTS # 446) 75 and DONE!
I didn't find SIMs in any of the sections I've sat for so far to be anything like those in Becker. With that said, I do find that the SIMs are helpful for reinforcing certain topics.
AUD - 95, BEC - 85
REG - 85, Rawrrrrrr FAR - 88
Used Becker for all sections.

The SIMS with Yaeger (via Wiley text) prepare you fine content wise. I think the formatting or the way they asked questions may have been a bit different, but as long as you grasp the concepts they emphasize and do all the SIMS they require, you should be in good shape. I had one SIM in Wiley that was damn near ver batim to what I saw on my actual AUD examination.
I would advise anyone who is sitting AUD to go over RATIOS at least once just in case. I hope the grades are released between the 21-25 because I want to know if I passed/fail — if I pass I will be in Jamaica the following week celebrating with some juicy mangoes.
Jeff, what do your ninjas say about the Mar 21-25 timeline?
“NASBA has advised the Illinois Board of Examiners that scores for the first quarter of 2011 will be released sometime next week (March 21-25). Scores will be posted as we receive them. Please do not call the Board office asking about exam scores.”
Nice to see something a little more specific. I wonder if the management at NASBA even knows that there is a facebook page being used as a question and “answer” forum. If I was running that organization and saw the communications put out under there name via that channel, I'd be furious with whoever was publishing the content – the vibe they are giving off is condescending, at best.
Apparently, NASBA's communications with other agencies has more content and is more effective than the communication they give out to the REAL customers – paying CPA candidates.
When I finally get my CPA and work enough I am going to get a job in the AICPA.. and then work my way up until I am important enough to make important decisions and then! I will make this whole processes more efficient and improve communication with the candidates. I will rule the AICPA jajajaa and if I can't because I am not a US citizen or something along those lines or they collude against me I will open a CPA certification company against the AICPA jaja and make it better.. oh and I will open tons of international places so that I capture the international market that currently doesn't even know or have access to the CPA.. its going to be awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
