I just ended another phone call with NASBA. What a bunch of smug, low level bureaucrats.

Here are their answers; you can fill in my questions.

NASBA:

“We hope the scores will be released by the end of the testing window. No, there has not been any discussion about extending the 18 month rule what so ever. No, releasing scores at the end of the window should not impact rescheduling since all candidates receive their score at the same time. No, I am not a CPA and I have never taken the test”

Me: Thanks for the information. You’re basically worthless, you know that right?

NASBA: Thanks for calling.

Me: Whatever.

My impression: These people either have no idea what they are doing to us or they simply choose to not care.

I've been following Another71 since I found out about it in Nov 2010 and now I've finally registered….I think I'm going to lose my mind!!!! My 18 months runs out on 4/30. I've passed 3 parts and failed BEC twice and sat for the 3rd time in Feb. I'm really frustrated that they're not going to release until the last week of March. I HAVE to have passed because if I didn't I have less than 30 days to get an NTS, actually schedule my exam and OH YEAH study. Oh and lets not forget 2 of those 4 weeks are still completely consumed by preparing 1040's. AAARRRGGGHHHH!

I think the people who cite their rights as Americans to receive proper customer service are hilarious. Doesn't the AICPA have just as much freedom to be lazy than you do to seek a different certification? Ha ha. Gee whiz.

@FormerChemist- We may not have a right to good customer service, but we DO have a right not to be locked in by a monopoly which, due to complete lack of competition, can treat customers however it wants and charge them whatever it wants because no other company is allowed to serve the market.

I say they should open the market to competing organizations. I bet there are plenty of CPAs out there that would jump at the chance to start a competing organization.

It's like I hear all of this last week stuff, but somehow, in the back of my mind, I think (hope) that they're just messing with us to cut down on phone traffic and site crashes…. even though if the ninjas said it, it must be true… Guess i'll go cry, stare at a computer screen wondering why I can't get work done, go home and dream about getting my score….. =*(

FormerChemist, there are other organizations that issue accounting certificnations like the IMA (CMA). Problem is the CMA hasn't caught on in the states as much so it doesn't get the same respect as the C.P.A. although from my understanding its just as difficult to pass.
