My thoughts exactly Haze. If their site crashed back in November back when they were doing releases in waves, whats going to happen when everybody gets on at once? Its amazing that people who are probably pretty smart didnt think this thing through
Agreed, Haze. I'm not looking forward to the bandwidth implosion either. All of us here who have gone through at least one score release process know how it's nearly impossible to access nasba and our state board websites, and that's typically been with 25% of the candidates checking at a time. Now 100% of the candidates will be looking on the same day? I hope they invested in a new system of really expensive servers (paid for by us of course) when they came up with the freaking brilliant plan to release all at once.
@CPAinVA I hadn't thought about that, but I think you're right. You and I are in the exact same boat, as I took BEC in August 2009 and my credit for it expired on 2/28/11 if I didn't passREG that I just took on 2/19/11. So, I think it isn't possible that someone's score should be expiring at the beginning of April, as you pointed out.
CPAinVA – In Texas, your 18 month window starts when you got the score. For example, I took AUD on April 9, 2010, got my score May 25, 2010, and my account on the Texas State Board website says I have until November 25, 2011 to pass all sections. So the 18 months started when I got my score. I don't know for sure if that's only Texas specific, but that's how it's been for my two passing scores I've gotten.
BEC 52, 61, 74, 77
AUD 80
REG 75
FAR 50, 60, 70, 74, 83...DONE!!
..Texas.. Baby #2 born 4/11/11
I'm having a party tonight. I just decided this morning. My husband was like, “Why?” and I said it was time to burn my FAR study materials, something I've been wanting to do since I passed in December.
I've got some corned beef and cabbage in the crock pot. The kids are having green lemonade and s'mores (by the FARe).
So rather than be pissed off about having to wait on my score (dammit), I'm going to celebrate the great feats I have accomplished.
“Credit for any section passed shall be valid for 18 months from the actual date the examination sections were taken.”
Assuming this isn't incorrect or outdated information (which might be a HUGE stretch considering we are talking about NASBA), it is entirely possible to have your examination expire on April 1.
In Illinois it expires exactly 18 months from the date you sit for the exam. Some states, like Georgia, does the 18 months but allows a grace period to the end of the month of the 18th month. They expire on 31st of the 18th month. I guess every state is different.
I guess I'll have to dig out the letter when I get home. I'm basing my assumptions off the website, which could easily (likely, sadly enough) be wrong. No doubt that the letters trump all.
Regardless, it's only a matter of a few days in my case, but the bigger issue here is that a fair system would have afforded me the opportunity to register for and schedule an examination a couple of weeks ago. Assuming I fail, I'm skeptical that that there will be a seat available at the end of the month by the time my NTS is processed.
I think in NY the time expires at the end of that window – at least I hope. I took and passedAUD January 2, 2010 and I believe my letter says that my 18 months ends August 2011. If I do the actual 18 month roll from Jan 2, 2010 then it should technically end July 2, 2011. Hope the letter is what matters!
I think counting 18mo from the last day of each qtr of exam date is reasonable and fair as of last year system.
However, I believe that we are deserve to have at least 3mo extension if AICPA release scores at the end of each qtr.
For my case, I already shoot my last shot, so what I can do is just waiting… but it is really painful to wait it by last week of March. I hope we can get it by next week.
