I second what jdiiorio said. We need a formal letter.

Maybe we should file an official complaint to the AICPA through their complaint process. Apparently the Professional Ethics Division goes through the complaints. I would almost argue that this treatment of candidates is unethical.

@mattsmeesh- love the Frodo reference. I'm “toiling” my way through my 5th attempt at BEC and absolutely hate it. I'm waiting form my FAR score so studying is not progressing as well as I had hoped.

went to a site that indicated the score release for the first 3 test windows in 2011 will be after the close of the test period. Beginning Oct – Nov first score release will be after one month and then every two weeks. That should be helpful for those in the future. Sad and sorry for us in the here and now!

ARGH, I would REALLY like to know if I need to be scrounging up anothe 500 bucks for tests 2nd window.

And I would ALSO like to know the collective lost GDP in the US each testing window as candidates wait for scores. I bet CPA firms are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars this week….. Think about it. Let's say they lose 4 hours per candidate in productivity over this (SERIOUSLY LOW ESTIMATE). Approximately 5000 people per section in 1/2 a window. So 10,000 per section, 40,000 scores total. Make that 2/3 because maybe 1/3 aren't at a CPA firm. That's 26,800 candidates at CPA firms. Multiply that times 4 to get 107,200 total hours of lost productivity. Let's take a REALLY conservative estimate of lost billings on that at $100 per hour.

CONGRATULATIONS, AICPA! You've cost American CPA firms approximately $10,720,000.00 this testing window in lost productivity! It's a good thing you guys have a monopoly, eh?

I bet if another organization could actually bid against the AICPA for the ability to do CPA licensing, their performance would be much better. Bring on Adam Smith and some capitalistic competition!

    AUD - 92
    FAR - 73, 82
    REG - 72, 82
    BEC - 84 DONE!!!!!! 🙂

I don't really get the 18 month window anyway. I work with a guy who passed the test paper and pencil in 2002, but was in the military and stuff and didn't get his experience til this year, and then he applied for a license. He didn't have to take CPE all this time to make sure that in the mean time, his knowledge would protect the public once he was licensed. Same principle applies- if you pass a test and it's been over a year- take CPE related to the topics in the CSO and I'd say it's safe that we're not going to harm the public- much safer than a guy who passed his test 8 years before he was licensed with absolutely no training or education between.

What's the wildest thing about this painful and endless waiting process? Half of us will receive nothing more than the all too famous AICPA slap in the face… courtesy of a < 75 score. It's a lose/lose game, ladies and gentlemen. We'll worry ourselves sick waiting to be told we failed… again.

The AICPA's efficiency really amuses me………………… how can they set standards when they don't practice them? They are inefficient, careless about their clients (in this case, CPA candidates), they lack communication skills and they are secretive about EVERY SINGLE THING about the CPA Exam. Is this really the organization we are holding our trust into? Maybe the FASB themselves should take direct involvement on this and not delegate into the AICPA.

Anyone up for a formal complaint/request for some accommodation?

This exam has had no beneficial impact in my life this far so I feel like I need to take some action. And I don't want to hear you knew what you signed up for. Because yes I knew it'd be tough and I'd probably not pass the first time around. BUT:

    1. I did not sign up for delayed score releases that negatively impact my ability to get this done with.

    2. I did not sign up to be some guinea pig and receive TERRIBLE Customer SERVICE

    3. It's not like the AICPA is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to take an exam, if anything we do the accounting profession a favor so that they will have adequate professionals providing public services. (Not sure what this has to do with anything).

oh #4. I DID NOT SIGN UP TO study my butt off and then fail because they decide to pass a lucky 50% and fail the other unlucky 50% who were too close to that annoying 75. So they were just pushed down instead of up (not sure what there curve is like).

PS I HATE THE NUMBER 75 so much that when I turn 75 I will just tell ppl I am 76. And skip a year of my life =)

Not only are they doing a disservice to their clients the CPA candidates, but my calculations show the AICPA is doing an enormous disservice to their bigger clients, the CPA firms. $10.7 million bucks is a lot of money to lose over an administrative snafu!

    AUD - 92
    FAR - 73, 82
    REG - 72, 82
