    I did the biometrics (electronic fingerprint). maybe it varies by prometric location. each time you take a break in between testlets to go to the bathroom or something like that you have to get fingerprinted (1 finger) again

    When I came back from the restroom during AUD, my hands were still cold after washing them and the machine wouldn't register my fingerprint. They finally gave up and let me back in after 6 tries. I think if you've got the form that Prometric gives you at the end stating you've taken the exam that you'll be OK.

    First, I was delayed 2 hours for the computer problems. Then, their webcam failed as well, so they had to do mugshot-style photos. They wrote my name on a paper and had me hold it up while they took my pic…

    @kb24 I hope you pass!! you tested in just 1 window! what do you think would be the best strategy for REG? I'm using only Wiley textbooks for the 4 exams but im considering doing yaeger for REG, I want to pass it in 1 testing! haha

    @watswidme

    I'd recommend you do more than just the Wiley books for REG. The Wiley book was printed before the end of 2010 so the extension of the Bush tax cuts and other tax legislation passed near the end of year aren't included in the book. Also, there are additions to the CSO effective in July that aren't included in the book. You can check with Yaeger to make sure they include these changes in their course. In addition to the text, I'd recommend the Wiley test bank. I think it's better for FAR and AUD than it is for REG, but it does a decent job of preparing you for the exam.

    There have been a number of posts as to how bad REG actually is. Some people think it's tough but fair, and others say that it's terrible because of questions that are poorly worded and/or on impossibly obscure topics. Based on the significant decline in scores in the first quarter and my own personal experience, I tend to agree with the second group. No matter how well prepared you are, there is an element of luck for every exam as to how many questions there are that are confusing or on topics that weren't covered in your review materials. For me, REG was by far the worst of all the exams in this regard, and I don't think I had it nearly as bad as others did. I'm not trying to scare you, but don't beat yourself up if you have a bad experience.

    As far as study tips I'd recommend that you

    –go through the REG thread for suggestions that fit your style of studying and learning

    –make sure you thoroughly study every topic in the book even if it says that it's not heavily tested – that might have been true in the past, but it doesn't appear to be the case with the new exam

    –do as many MCQ as you possibly can from as many sources as you can find

    Thanks for the positive thoughts. I hope you passed yours as well, and good luck with your exams next window.

    @kb24- Yaeger gives the opposite advice for REG. You should only do the questions they assign because many of those questions from all different sources like to give questions that are not going to be tested. You are going to overload your brain with a lot of fluff and thus, fail.

    im sick of people coming on to messageboards to advertise for yaeger. shut your mouths. forums like these should be to encourage each other, give each other advice. compare/contrast studying habits. maybe talk about work/study/life balance.

    everytime i come on lately its always someone moaning about how hard the test is, how unfair the aicpa is, how the prometric center made them wait an extra 15 minutes (wahhhhhh!) OR blatantly advertising one course over other courses. If you like yaeger, fine, but at the end of the day, any course is good as long as you put in the time and think positive

    I'm not advertising Yaeger. I'm only sharing what they suggested. I never said it was a good or bad program. I'm just saying that they recommended not to overdo it with the questions as it can make things worse rather than better. It's the quality of the questions you do, not the quantity. The “do lots of questions” tip may work well in AUD, but not in REG.

    @CPAMan

    I know nothing about Yaeger. I only replied to the earlier post because it was addressed to me. I understand why they might think differently but doing lots of MCQ for REG was helpful to me.

    @shutupandstudy

    As I said above, I only responded because the post was addressed to me. Watswidme was planning to do Wiley alone but considering doing Yaeger and asked my opinion. IMO, Wiley alone is insufficient for REG. I know nothing about Yaeger and didn't give an opinion about it. I simply suggested that he contact Yaeger since that's the course he's considering to make sure the recent changes in REG are included in the material.

    You said that people shouldn't advertise specific review courses. While there may be some posts that are overenthusiastic, I've found most of them to give honest opinions about the pros and cons of the various courses and think that they may be helpful to people when they're trying to decide which course would be the best one for them to spend their money on.

    Yes, sometimes there are complaints. For a lot of us, this is the only place we can vent about a problem to people who understand what we're going through. Just being able to let off steam often helps people get past a problem. If the complaints bother you, don't read the them. If you want to discuss a different subject, start a new thread.

    The only time I get upset is when the person posting is rude or disparaging to others, and your post is a shining example of both.

    @shutupandstudy

    No one is forcing you to come on here and read everyone's posts. I like hearing what people recommend when it comes to courses and how to study.

    This is stressful for everyone… we all need to vent sometimes.

    So, any chance we'll get our scores this week?

    I wish we could get them this week. NASBA's facebook wall says: “The ‘third week' is generally calculated on the full week. Candidates should be advised that as soon as we receive scores from the AICPA we will notify them via twitter/facebook. All scores should be received by June 30.”
