Accounting PilotParticipantQuote-> Not really sure why its so expensive to take the test if this is the service were getting in return <-Quote
Classic supply and demand. Lots of us demand the CPA designation and only 1 company is supplying it. This is a great case study of monopolies.
Wisconsin Candidate. NTS 450
BEC - 82 AUD - 85
FAR - 83 REG - 71, 86June 10, 2011 at 1:36 am #283351

AnonymousInactive@comp2124- They take so long because they're trying get enough data in order to ensure that everyone's exam is graded fairly.

scdcpaMembercoming to this forum again & again. I took 2 tests in this window. my comp. during REG exam was super super slow. between each multiple choice questions there were almost 20 sec gap & when Sim started it was super slow as well, in fact slower than the MCQs. multiple calculator opened when I try to open one.
finally, my screen freezed & compuet hanged. Prometric center guy had to shift me to the another cumputer & he wrote down a report as well.
Luckily, everything during AUD was fine.

magsterParticipantI switched to another prometric center because the one I used to go to has aweful service. I used to take the test at 8 am and the gal was ALWAYS late – sometimes as much as 30 minutes. I do not understand how management lets that slide. So instead of getting annoyed I now go to another testing center which is 15 minutes further to drive but very close to the ocean. After the test I can go and unwind looking at the sea….lol well unwind in theory anyway.
I keep having dreams about the test results as well. At first I thought – yeah I'm gonna pass this time around. But the longer it takes the more I think: “No way you're passing this – ever” The test was too easy, I guessed too much, the SIMS were too off the wall, how can I be in the top 40% to pass this thing, the testlets did not get noticeable harder, not very many calculations in neither the FAR nor the AUD, and round and round it goes in my head. INSANITY!!!!! Please please please just give me 2 passing scores….please…..
That would only leave BEC at the end of AUG – otherwise I have to move BEC up and squeeze AUD and/or FAR retake in before window closes.
REG - Passed
FAR - Passed
BEC - Passed
AUD - 2-25-12 PASSED - DONE !!!!!!!! WOOHOO*** One day I will get my life back.... maybe today is the day ***

AnonymousInactiveI've never had any problems with my Prometric testing center until my last test in May (I have taken a total of 6 exams). When I went to checkout and they took my fingerprint, it said I was another person! Then they couldn't get the computer to recognize my fingerprint. I was like, please tell me this won't screw up my test.

osidecompassParticipantThis wait is killing me for my last score. I hope hope hope that scores start coming out next week, in the “third week” of June, although NASBA has refused to reply to my question of when that is on FB. Argh. Scores please!

kandisjoyParticipantARE SCORES OUT YET???
AHHHHH.
This is torture. Seriously, they need to improve this messed up scoring process. But I guess it's easy to ignore people's complaints when you have a monopoly…

phillyrocks87ParticipantI took audit (hopefully my last exam) and was taken back 25 minutes late for my testing window. I was so angry to start off the test. How unprofessional to pay $300 for an exam and then be treated like dirt. They were sipping their coffee and slacking. Don't you worry though – i ripped them a new one in that little box at the end of the window. Hopefully if enough people did that, they'll straighten things out.
We're looking at a straight up monopoly, people. Theres a lot of us who want something, but can only get it if we give into the demands of a huge conglomorate who charges an insane amount of money.
Can't wait to find out if I passed so I can relax a little at work. haha

kb24ParticipantI didn't realize how lucky I was with my Prometric site until I read some of these posts. It's not very big, and everyone has always been nice, friendly, and efficient. I never waited past my time scheduled test time for any of the exams. In fact, I started my last test 20 minutes early. It helped that it was Friday the 13th so the test center was less than half full. I never had any computer problems either. There was a bit of a lag switching between SIMS on REG, but it wasn't nearly as long as what some people have described and didn't adversely affect me. I feel for you guys that had problems, especially those who have to go back to retake your exam. That's just brutal.
FAR 4/1/11 - 89
AUD 4/15/11 - 85

HighMileageDudeParticipantI'm pretty sure that this window a lot of candidates wrote comments the computers were lagging
I was waiting in the Prometric waiting room for about 15-20mins before I started my CPA section. I think this was because there were 4-5 other CPA candidates coming in at 8:00AM to sit for a section.

AnonymousInactivesomeone should start a testing center company and compete with prometric… charge $200.to take the exam… food for thought

kb24ParticipantMy daughter's taking her 8 hour Step 1 exam (end of 2nd year of medical school) at Prometric next week. With the cost of that exam, her 4 hour practice exam, and the 4 CPA exams, we've spent approximately $2K on exams so far this year. My husband's decided that we're in the wrong business.
FAR 4/1/11 - 89
AUD 4/15/11 - 85
REG 4/29/11 - 80
BEC 5/13/11 - 85June 11, 2011 at 12:57 am #283363
AnonymousInactivePrometric did not take my fingerprint at my last exam. I didn't realize it until afterward.
My biggest fear is I passed and they disqualify it.
June 11, 2011 at 1:23 am #283364
AnonymousInactiveWill they disqualify if they don't take fingerprints? They didn't take my fingerprint when I took FAR. Now you're scaring me!
