I read somewhere that while the CPA exam isn't curved per se, it's still basically curved because points values are assigned to questions after a majority of exams are in, based on the percentage of candidates who got each question wrong — i.e., a hard question is worth more points than an easy question, and a hard question is identified by a high fail rate.

I'm not sure if this common knowledge or a conspiracy theory, or a half truth somewhere in between. I only recently started lurking/posting, and I work in industry so I don't really have a lot of excuses to talk to other CPA candidates in real life.

Ha my husband didn't believe that there really was a “countdown clock to doom”–I just showed it to him and he goes “good God that's awful”– no awful is waiting a month for your failing score and still having six hours to go….

and they ask me why I drink...

Having been on the other side of the playing field, I know exactly what you guys are going through. I'll be waiting for you guys at the finish line with a beer/champagne/shot or whatever. Good luck! And for anyone who didn't pass, it's ok and it's not the end of the world. I failed REG first then went 4 for 4. If I can do it, so can you. Everyone's path will be different so do not compare yourself to your peers. Cheers!
