    Hello Ninjas,

Today I got the news I did not want to hear, scored 70 on FAR and instead of being done with the CPA examination I now have to also pass REG by 12/31/18. I previously took FAR in June and scored 66 and this was a retake in which I scored a 70. I had used Becker before, but that also has expired and I feel I need to try something different. I have purchased NINJA and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on how to prepare for FAR in 5 weeks. REG I was going to give myself the full 7 week program.

    Thank You,

    Larry

    BEC – 84 – Expires 12/31/18

    REG – 78 – Expired 09/30/18 – Need to Retake by 12/31/18
FAR- 66,70 – Need to Retake by 12/31/18

@L.J. I'm sorry to hear the bad news.. I'm right there with you… Got a 65 on FAR in June and now a 70 on FAR today. I'm planning on retaking in 3 weeks and then moving on to another test also for Q4. I used Wiley and then on my retake only NINJA MCQ. I did about 1800 but I guess it still wasnt enough to pass. I know I was weak in pension/tax and maybe goofed up on a few other topics.. all of which I'm planning on mastering plus doing more SIMS. I only did a cash flow sim previous to the test., plus the AICPA ones.. Anyway I'm interested to see what others suggest too.

    FAR- TBD

L.J. was it the Sims that got you, or a particular section you felt you was weak in? You were close to passing so maybe just brushing up on your weak topics, I think I read somewhere where someone mentioned doing all the MCQs again to see what you remember and what you don't then hammer out the ones you really don't know as well as working on some SIMS that are heavily tested. I failed FAR bad with a 32, but when I take it again I will be hammering them MCQs really hard and then I'd make sure I cover those AICPA blueprints on Analysis to make sure I am confident with whatever SIMS they throw at me. My sources are from many research through the forums from others that passed FAR. Easy said than done, the rest is up to you! Goodluck!

Those of you who did 1800+ MCQs – what % are you getting on them? An do you review why your answer was wrong and why the correct answer was right?

@iceman I did 1800+ and was trending 92. My average was 66 however. I was going thru section by second on ninja. After I went thru a section I’d immediately go back and re do the wrong ones and read thru the answer to ensure I understood it. I probably should have gone over those wrong ones again. How did you do your MCQ?

On the 66 score I received I scored comparable on SIMS just was multiple choice where I scored lower in a few sections. I know governmental accounting got me on that one. This time around I reviewed governmental and was able to nail those questions, but I do not know where I scored weaker at yet. I wasn't sure if it was worth going through the NINJA book or if I was better off starting with the MCQ to see where I am weak and just cover those sections. I do think it would be worth reading NINJA notes and NINJA Audio.

It's countercultural in this forum but I did all the Ninja and Wiley TBS. I can do 3000 MCQ but it's the TBS that increased my competency. Sometimes people don't do them because they are longer and different then the exam but they are 50% of the exam and can be crucial to practice of its what you need. Remember when retaking that the exams aren't always the same so you have to maintain your strengths as well as work on weaknesses
