I am signing up to take my audit exam sometime in the 2nd week of October. I am studying now with Becker and am almost done with chapter 2. I plan on finishing the other 3 chapters and giving myself a week of review. But i was wondering how people studied.

Right now I am putting in about 5 hours a day.

    1) reviewing note-cards

    2) Making some condensed notes

    3) making note-cards on topics that do not have note-cards.

    4) writing out explanations to the Hw I get wrong.

Anyone have any other study tips or advice. I am freaking out over audit. I hate the amount of memorization much rather take FAR again to tell you the truth.

Repetition! I just kept going over my mc over, and over again. Believe me, i thought i couldn't remember all the stuff too. I just took it and thought I bombed it because the tbs question were ridiculous. Only felt confident on 3 out of the 7…I literally to educated guess's on the other 4…so if you run into the same thing don't get worked up over it… Good luck!

I used Becker and this is how I did it: I viewed lectures A1, A2, and A3. Then I went back and read through A1, bit by bit. I took it slowly and carefully, studying as if I was taking an exam on that section the next day. I make lots of notecards, it helps to write it out and organize (even if I don't go back and read them all!). It would take me a few days to study a whole lecture. At the end of each subchapter, I would do the homework problems. Then moved on to A2, and A3. The problems I got wrong, I did not re-do them right away, but rather after a day or 2.

Then I viewed lectured A4 & A5, went back and studied then did homework, as before. A4 was a challenge for me, so that was the first chapter I went back and did again for my review. I only reviewed for about a week or a week and a half. For my review I printed out the “chapter outline” and added detailed notes to each. As I went through I used Becker's “simulated exams” (quizzes) and simulations on just a chapter or 2 at a time. Then my last 2 days I took the 2 practice Final exams.

Oh and I used the Becker note cards as well, but mostly at the end during my review.

I spent a total of 4 weeks studying. One of the weeks I went to the beach for 4 days!

Just got my score today- made a 97! 😀 So this worked for me! Hope this helps.

I made a list of everything that needed to be memorized (e.g., the reports), and then I didn't bother trying to memorize any of it until about two weeks before taking the exam. I knew I'd forget it if I tried to memorize it sooner, so I spent my energy focusing on learning concepts.

Did you memorize the reports word for word or more or less what Becker has in their summary and underlines. Such as RAPMEAN

I memorized them word for word by reading and writing them over and over and over and over. I'd also recite them to myself while I was driving or getting ready for work. RAPMEAM and other mnemonics helped me to remember what sentence was up next in case I drew a blank.

I didn't memorize every single report, but I did memorize the ones that are emphasized by Becker.

I didn't memorize the reports word for word–I only memorized the RAPMEAM acronym and then pictured where each set of words were in the report. I would have felt too overwhelmed if I tried to memorize the whole report!

    Good luck!!

I memorized the whole report…the main ones emphasized in Becker, like T-Rex said. After you write it out once or twice it's really not that hard at all

I memorized the unqualified report and the locations of the explanatory paragraphs for the other reports. I'd recite it while getting ready in the morning. It really wasn't that bad to memorize.

My methods involved reading the entire becker book cover to cover. Then reading the entire book from the beginning but only the main stuff (skipped ancillary 2nd time around). Worked some problems.. then 4~ days before the exam I read everything AGAIN focusing on pass keys and mnemonics. All the mean while I would go back to mnemonics- and recite the mnemonic and its meaning in my head then look at the mnemonic in the book and make sure everything I recited was correct. It got to the point that as the exam day came close I could follow the report mnemonics and recite the entire report from start to finish. You might of even been able to catch me reciting mnemonics and their meaning out loud in the shower..ahah. For me, if I say things I remember a lot better. Well it paid off.. score of 90 and i'm never looking back again.

Using Becker right now. Just shocked how much material needs to be covered and learned. So many reports to memorize. I feel like if i can put the time in I will be fine. I told all my friends not to be scared if they don't hear from me for the next 2-3 weeks.

This is not the way i expected my last couple of weeks before work would be like. But 8-10 hour days of studying will ensure I never have to put up with this crap again. Just hope I keep my motivation to get through this (hopefully if i pass FAR it will help)

    @ T-rex

Thank you for the advice. Definitely helps breaking everything out. Makes studying a little more easier focusing just on concepts for the first couple runs through. I feel like i am learning everything a lot easier.

I made a list of all the key points I should remember on blank papers while studying. I used Becker and Wiley online test bank. Never ignore any seemingly small areas that you think they will not test on.

Becker was fantastic for AUD! I watched each chapter of each lecture, then re-read the chapter in the book and wrote my own notes and completed the homework questions. Once I had made it through the entire book, I took one day each for A1-A5, re-read the chapter and answered all of the MCQs again. Then I took advantage of the Wiley testbank and did every single multiple choice within it. Writing down all of the mnemonics until you have them absolutely memorized is great too. As everyone above said, MCQs are your best bet. If you're writing down why you got each HW question wrong you are definitely on the right track! Don't get nervous about the Becker final exams either, I got a 72 on both and ended up passing with a 94!! On the exam I felt comfortable about the MCQs, nailed 4 sims, partially knew 2 and completely bombed 1. Keep up the good work and good luck!
