@Jsaf I technically started this journey Jan 2014, took REG twice that year but didn't pass. My job at the time was high stress/long commute/little pay. So I decided to put my effort into finding a job closer to home with less stress and more money. It took about 9 months but I landed at “Best Place to Work” employer in my city. Fast forward to Dec 2015, I decided to start my CPA journey again.
Passed REG, woo! I can do this, I thought. Failed FAR and BEC until 1 year later rec'd my passing score for BEC. That's when Q2 2017 was upon us so I took FAR and AUD in Q2 2017. Failed both. During this time several colleagues and even my boss had already passed the exams. As @heidigail30 stated, the people at Prometric knew me by name and we engaged in small chat.
I passed AUD Q4 2017 and just found out I passed FAR yesterday! Unfortunately, I did lose my credit for REG so the journey is not over but I cannot stress enough persistence is key. Throughout this adventure, there have been many fights with my spouse and kids, anxiety induced illnesses, feelings of defeat and incompetence, and tears of failure. It's surprisingly been a soul searching experience. I know I have grown professionally and the imposter syndrome is dwindling.
If you truly want to be a CPA, do not give up. With each fail I made adjustments. Sometimes, it was in my study materials and sometimes it was personal. My husband stepped up with household chores and helping the kids with their homework. After Q2 results were released, I negotiated with my boss to have 1 hour of study at work (+ the hour long lunch…that gave me 2 hours minimal each day!) Delegate, be creative, focus, and be disciplined. Good luck!
