Hi everyone…. so I got a score this morning and like most score releases (losing count on how many at this point), I did not pass. I am halfway done (AUD and BEC) and need to pass the other two monsters. Honestly, kind of just looking for some motivational stories from others who can help me and others on this journey. I wish everyone luck who still has these tests left.

@Jsaf I technically started this journey Jan 2014, took REG twice that year but didn't pass. My job at the time was high stress/long commute/little pay. So I decided to put my effort into finding a job closer to home with less stress and more money. It took about 9 months but I landed at “Best Place to Work” employer in my city. Fast forward to Dec 2015, I decided to start my CPA journey again.

Passed REG, woo! I can do this, I thought. Failed FAR and BEC until 1 year later rec'd my passing score for BEC. That's when Q2 2017 was upon us so I took FAR and AUD in Q2 2017. Failed both. During this time several colleagues and even my boss had already passed the exams. As @heidigail30 stated, the people at Prometric knew me by name and we engaged in small chat.

I passed AUD Q4 2017 and just found out I passed FAR yesterday! Unfortunately, I did lose my credit for REG so the journey is not over but I cannot stress enough persistence is key. Throughout this adventure, there have been many fights with my spouse and kids, anxiety induced illnesses, feelings of defeat and incompetence, and tears of failure. It's surprisingly been a soul searching experience. I know I have grown professionally and the imposter syndrome is dwindling.

If you truly want to be a CPA, do not give up. With each fail I made adjustments. Sometimes, it was in my study materials and sometimes it was personal. My husband stepped up with household chores and helping the kids with their homework. After Q2 results were released, I negotiated with my boss to have 1 hour of study at work (+ the hour long lunch…that gave me 2 hours minimal each day!) Delegate, be creative, focus, and be disciplined. Good luck!

    REG: 69, 73, 80!
    FAR: 62
    BEC: TBD
    AUD: TBD

You can do it, the CPA is an exam of endurance, not knowledge (at least that's what I'm telling myself).
I failed REG in July 2016, then passed in October 2016
    I failed BEC Jan 2017, April 2017 (73), October 2017 (73) and finally passed in Jan 2018
I passed AUD in Oct 2017
I failed FAR in July 2017 and I'm going back to it TODAY at 1pm and I'm online here looking for motivation too! REG expires 4/20 and I can't do that again (to myself or my family).
I'm in between pep talks and tears. I've resorted to very superstitious behavior.
I work full time, have a 3 and 5 year old and a very supportive spouse.

Everyone has been there – If (when) I pass today, I will have taken a total of NINE exams. I started this in May 2016 and I want it done, today!

Best wishes to everyone, we can do it!!

This is not a test of intelligence. This is a test of persistence and endurance. I found out yesterday that my 23 month journey was finally over.

    BEC 4X
    FAR 2X
    AUD 1X
    REG 1X

Ever since I decided to major in accounting, I always questioned whether or not I was actually smart enough to pass the exam. Nonetheless, I kept going and graduated from undergrad and enrolled in an MBA program. I finished the MBA program and took 6 months off before getting into test mode. The test is very intimidating and you hear horror stories all the time. Once I got that first pass, the light sort of came on, and I realized I was smart enough to obtain the CPA designation.

As many times as I wanted to throw in the towel, I knew it wasn't an option. I was way too invested in it at that point.

Just keep your head up and push through. It will pay off eventually if you put in the time and effort, I promise. Good luck.

This might sound silly to you but write down why you want to be a CPA.

Read it aloud EVERY NIGHT before you sleep. read it when you feel happy, sad, motivated, unmotivated, sleepy. There shall not be a day that you can skip reading it.

    Study Material:
    GLEIM
    BEC - FEB/2012
    AUD - FEB/2012
    FAR - JULY/2012
    REG - JULY/2012
