I've never posted here before BUT reading all the posts from today about the “score release wait” has actually kept me from looking at the countdown clock…keep em coming!

I have a question for all who are not necessarily brand new to the exam…worse case scenario: I fail my first attempt to take any section of the CPA exam, would you all suggest that I go back and re-study the section I just failed or move on to another section? If I should re-study what I just failed, would you suggest I start over from scratch?

@smartypants definitely retake what you failed (at least that's what I did). You already know the bulk of the material. And besides, its only going to get harder to recall information when you start studying for other sections.

    B-passed! (4/2013). Lost Credit. Passed again (3/2015)
    A-passed! (2/2014)
    R-passed! (8/2013). Lost Credit. Passed again (6/2015)
    F-Passed! (4/2015)

@amaffei – lmao. your “4 – 30 times” comment made me literally laugh out loud at work. I hope I don't get close to 30 times!

@SmartyPants – I highly advise you retake the section you just failed. I did that and ended up getting 10 points higher 2 months later when I could retake it again.

On a side note, anyone take a break from studying and go see Mockingjay??

@smartypants-definitely retake the section you failed. I failed REG, but moved on and took the BEC and FAR classes with Becker. Passed FAR, tried retaking REG with minimal studying and it did not bode well for me. Ended up retaking the REG class because by then (about 6 months later) Becker had updated the book and software so much, I was lost.

@ala72 my wife and I are going to see it tomorrow.

A coworker told me that when he was taking the exam he would try to apply for the section he was waiting on a score for on the day before the target release date. If it let him register then he had failed, but if he was ineligible to register then he had passed. Anyone else ever heard this?

@kbrad5714 – this potential loophole has been debated with people saying yes and no. For my state, Texas, it would be impossible because the state board does not receive the score until after the NASBA release date.

@kbrad5714 – I know from personal experience (at least in Michigan) that is not true. I failed my last section and the option to re-regster for the section was grayed out until scores were released.

@ala72 My wife and I are going to see Mockingjay tonight. We re-watched the first 2 last weekend.

@Maddie P I was thinking about donating my books to the library but the range sounds like a better idea.

    AUD - 4/14/14 - 83
    BEC - 5/21/14 - 81
    FAR - 7/14/14 - 85
    REG - 8/18/14 - 68 - 11/10/14 - 86

kbrad I just checked this theory (as I am waiting on my scores for Audit as I study for BEC) and it said that I was “registered” for audit and that I passed or am registered for all parts and redirected me. Not sure what that means, BEC and AUD say the same thing…I wish they would just release them already 🙁

@sabrinaknott I tried also and it wouldn't let me register. I'm in Tennessee. Even if other people confirmed his story I probably still wouldn't feel satisfied until I saw the score. This is my last section. This has to be my least productive day of the year outside of April 16th.

Are they going to start releasing scores at 1AM now – they did it last time and probably worked good for them, or are they just trying to prove Jeff and his theory wrong
