My take on FAR. TAKE 3 (Took it today)

Juat got back from the exam site after taking FAR. A little background, i took far in august and did not study a majority of chapters, got a 69. Took it in November, studied my tale off and tudered my coworker, got a 73 and he got a 76 (I thought the test was easy and he thought his was death). Fast forward to today, I bought Yaeger CPA, did the full course and supplemented my studies with Becker 2011 mcq and sims. I walked into the test relaxed, some what confident (I did Becker MCQ probably in excess of 5 to 6 times each and Yaeger). First testlet I thought was medium-somewhat hard, I did all 30 MCQ and marked about 14 for review. I reread all questions (inclusive of reading the stem of the question first and making sure my answer made sense) and finished the first testlet in 60 minutes. YIKES! After rereading I knew there were 4 to 5 questions i had down to a 50 50 guess and the others I felt “confident”. Moved on to the second testlet, HOLY $HIT. First question was a 10 sentence question, long story short, very difficult but just tried breaking each question down. Again, reread every question two times and moved on to the third testlet. Surprisingly, I felt more confident on testlet 2 than 1 but this testlet was much more wordy, and alot of “one worders” that changed what they were askng. Many little tricks I picked up on (They were very sneaky with dates, changed in the answers using one word which changed the answer). Third testlet, easier than the second, and probably equivilant to the third. I reread all questions, and I counted 15 I KNEW I had right. THere were some I guessed on but felt confident. Had 1 hour and 27 minutes for the sims. answered l seven. Had 2 research, 1 I knew I had, and the second posibly had. The other 5 tabs I would say I probably got 70% of the items correct. Nothing I did not know, just know I did not nail it 100%. THis was the first time I experienced a subtle change in difficulty of the testlets. I have gotten a 77 in reg, 76 in aud, and 75 in bec. Never saw any drastic change. My question to the “EXPERTS” is do you think I have a chance that I passed? Thank you in advance. Also, what is the prediction on score releases?

Supposed to be March 17. Can't speculate how you did? If you feel good coming out its a good feeling. Sofar from all the posters today, seems like we all had a very hard second testlet and an easier third one. Wow you had 2 research tabs? Lucky you hehe.

Thanks herbie herb. Woudl love for others to chime in. I will say I felt much better about the second test I took (and fsailed with a 73) however, the exam without a doubt go tprogressively harder. Hoping that I have a chance and wou love some reassurance.

Every exam I had, FAR, AUD, REG, I never felt it got harder in the testlets. When I was in FAR I never saw the questions as very long. Not sure why this happens to me.. but I do pass.

Your exam sounds very very scary which is a good sign.. so I hear!!! Yeah you! Only a couple of more days….

    Congratulations 🙂

THank you all for the words of encouragement. It is scary how difficult my second testlet was. I did not panic and just tried to breka each question down and I did give myself 1.5 hours for the simulations, but I am/was still not 100% on them. I am preying to god I passed.

Its been two nights since I have taken my exam. Two nightmares in a row. The more and more I think about it, the more I think I failed. Take a look at my story in my original post above.

Damn I've had nightmares since taking the exam too. Have you gone back and look up questions you guessed on? I'm like 0/4 from the few I remembered :(…

    2 more weeks of this

YEs, I am 1 for 2 on the questions I was not completely posiitive on. I always thought that people who said the test was impossible and guessed on a bunch were full of it. I never once saw an increase in difficulty until now. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I can only hope the fact that I answered all of the sims (not neccesarily all right) will help me in the end.

Well I leave on vacation after a two month period of multiple 70-80 hour work weeks plus studying for FAR. I am still torn between checking my exam score while on vacation, as I might jump off the cruise ship should I not pass. I appreciate all that have taken the time to read my post above and hopefully I have passed this beast. Thanks again

Speaking of dreams, I had a dream that I got a 74.85 on my FAR and they rounded it to 75 and I passed. HAHA

The closer it gets to score release the worse I feel. If I don't pass FAR and then BEC in Apr I will lose my AUD credit and will have to start all over again.

First time to the party for FAR on 2/24 and my last exam if I pass (ha). My test was weird compared to what I expected. I thought all three testlets were about the same and compared to the questions in the Wiley book, they seemed easy – meaning none were very wordy and certainly not more than 2 or 3 lines of text and ALOT were short and to the point. From what I understand – this spells bad news. For each testlet I answered about half on the first pass and went back to work the calculations – probably guessed at most. TB Sims were brutal. Research easy. Have no idea if this is worth a 50 or an 80. The speculation is killing me – it's the middle of tax season and I can't focus on anything – lost all of my OT pay in Jan and Feb studying and now I'm worried that I gave up the OT for a lousy 50 which means no raise/promotion and a return to the party in May.

I just read your thread and wanted to congratulate you on passing all 4!

I'm supposed to be studying for FAR but can't concentrate while waiting (anxiously) for my AUD score.

Thank you for sharing your FAR experience and wish you lots of success.
