More or less?

If one is strapped for time, do you think it is better to cover more material, but less thoroughly, or less material more thoroughly?

For example, should I do as many multiple choice questions as possible so I cover more area, or do a decent amount and then go over them to reinforce the material?

Hope everyone’s studying is going well!

Touch decision. What about this – thoroughly cover the heavily tested topics and skim(?) and do questions on the lesser topics… It's what I did when I thought I didn't have enough time, luckily I did, and was able to go back and really dig into ALL topics

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

Thanks. The problem is that for one of the exams, I didn't study so well a couple of areas that supposedly are not heavily tested and I felt I had many questions on those topics (on the exam), so since then I've been a bit anxious about those seemingly less important areas.

I'm still not sure about what to do, but I can try to incorporate your advice. I'll just have to keep plugging away.

Actually, I want to retract that advice. I just took audit today and I couldn't have been more wrong. I focused so much on one or two certain areas b/c those, everyone says, are the heavily tested topics and I BARELY got any questions on those. Not everyone gets the same test I realize but I definitely have new advice:

If there are topics that you think (use personal judgment here) you NEED to focus in on, do that. For example, I knew from AUD that I really needed to go through thoroughly Transaction cycles the most. I was getting all the MCQs in my studying wrong and couldn't understand it. I felt that I needed to go through engagement planning least since it made more sense to me. So I spent 5 days reviewing the cycles, and 2 days reviewing the latter the last week before my exam. Basically, go through the materials once and challenge yourself doing questions, and then decide…

I hope this makes sense, and I hope it helps! I know it can be tough. I am trying to plan my schedule tonight to take REG in Oct and FAR in Nov. It is hard knowing if you'll have enough time to go through everything enough to pass. Hang in there!!!!!!

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

Thanks for the advice. I took the other 3 exams in April, May and July and I left BEC for last because I figured it would be easier to do it after the other “major” ones like FAR and REG but somehow I just have no patience… I don't know why I'm feeling oddly calm about it either. I am kind of nervous, but not as nervous as maybe I should be!

I really take what “they” say about which areas are heavily tested with a grain of salt. Especially b/c the exam was changed, and my experience on one of them proved that areas that were not “supposed” to be heavily tested kind of were.

Good luck on your study schedule! REG and FAR are toughies, but not insurmountable!

Getting closer to test day…any other advice? Is it better to go through fewer topics but know them relatively well, or cover more ground but not know the material so well…?

Just want to get this over with already!

if you've already looked at everything at least once, go back and ONLY look at what you are weak in

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

Thanks…although haven't finished going through everything once but hopefully I will manage to…Unfortunately a few things came up and took quite a bit of my time in the past few weeks, but I'm going to try to give this my best shot.
