MCQs more helpful than reading material?

Am I the only one who feels this way? I could read and read and read and not retain a single thing. Almost seems like a waste of time to me (classes or video lectures would have been a better learning strategy for me)

But man, get a MCQ wrong, I get frustrated, angry, research, and make sure I would NEVER get that question wrong again.

Probably against conventional wisdom (like everything else I do!) But I think for this last 9 days I will do nothing BUT MCQ’s.

MCQ's FTW!!! Thats my sole plan for preparing for all my exams. I did so for AUD and it worked. I have BEC next week and I feel fully prepared after doing close to 5000 questions…Everyone is different but like yourself mla1169, I learn much better and faster doing questions…. Reading the lectures and text puts me to sleep…..

P.S I did a recent thread on the same topic and overwhelmingly alot of ppl do questions only also.

I prefer to read once through and then reinforce with multiple choice.

I do plenty of reading of the book(mostly notes that are highlighted) during the first 3/4 of my studying, but come final review time(the last 2 weeks) its a multiple choice marathon for me. For one, they are better practice for me as to what you will see on the exam, as the questions are usually not as simple and straight forward as the book outlines it—its key to know the tricks you might see as well as the wording of the questions. And second, I do in fact feel like I learn the material pretty well during this time because like you said a wrong question leads to additional research which just further helps solidify that concept into my brain. I do usually brush up on the notes/book once more about a day before the exam though, but other than that its all about multiple choice right before an exam for me.
