So you took your last exam and have a month to wait for your grade. If you pass your done if you missed it (again) you start all over again and take the exam 4 months from now. So what do you do now, its Saturday its cold and there is nothing to study. You’ve been spending your Sat/Sun studying 8-9 hrs for the last year. What do others do while waiting in Limbo…..

Funny you ask. This was me at the end of November. Convinced I failed, I actually started studying again because I had free time at work, ended up passing. I would just wait and try not to go crazy :-). Good luck.

Why four months for retake? That is a long time.

dmitch442, the soonest they could possibly retake is April 1st, and if they work in public accounting, that's not a good time to study and take a test. So early to mid May would be reasonable. That's 4 months from now.

Yeah, terryharm, that limbo period is rough. I wasn't sure what to do either with BEC in October. Either I was totally done, or I had to take it again in January. It was too soon to start studying again anyway, so I took the time off and waited it out. It was rough, and very strange not to have studying to do.

    I hope you passed!

Enjoy the feeling of freedom while you wait – if you fail, getting back that freedom will be good motivation for a re-test! After taking my last exam, we started house-hunting, so my waiting period was pretty busy with that whole process.

I have my final exam on the 20th (AUD) so I will be in the same boat as you very shortly 🙂

I plan to apply for accounting Phd programs this year so I will begin studying for the GRE exam. I did consider doing nothing for 2 weeks until I received my score, but I'm sure I would drive myself crazy worrying about the results.

IMO, the best thing you can do is keep yourself occupied, or else you may drive yourself to the brink of insanity worrying 🙂

    Good luck!

I just took my last exam (AUD) on 1/7 so this is going to be a lonnnnggg month of waiting. Luckily busy season starts on Monday so that will definitely take my mind off of score release. But this weekend I relaxed, watched some hockey, and spent some much needed time with family 😀

I take my (hopefully!) last one Feb. 2nd. If I don't pass I want to retake on April 1. I figure that for the three weeks I will have to wait for score release I will just do a bank of 20 questions each day. Totally easy to accomplish and ensures the info stays at least a little fresh in my head.

I am however coming off a six week break (which included a vacation) so I have been more willing to be OK with spending all weekend inside for this round of studying.

I went through that in November… I purchased the Ethics exam, you have a year from when you purchase it in California. I honestly didn't get far. I went to the gym, spent time with family, organized stuff, watched some of my fave shows… Didn't feel particularly productive, but in retrospect, I did alright. This time I have my exam scheduled for 1/19, the last day I should be able to take the exam and get results in the first wave. This time I'm going to get the ethics knocked out! And more seriously hit the gym. Studying has been bad for the waistline… REALLY bad…

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

@dmitch442 It wouldn't be productive for me to keep studying since the earliest I could take the exam is 4/1, My BEC expires at the end of May so I would probably do the re-take at the end of April and get into that first score release of May. It was already getting to the point where I felt as if I memorized most of the questions, so if I don't pass I think it would be better to take this 4 week break and start all over again in the middle of Feb to prep for an end of April exam. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

I like all of these ideas @Stevav glad to see other have to hit the gym as well, wonder if there have been any studies number of lbs gained during the CPA…. might be a new forum we could set up… lol..

Well with the year end close things are going to be busy at work for the next few weeks that should keep me out of trouble. Just having trouble focusing as I await 2/4/15…..

Good luck to you guys hope to see you all in the score release string and with positive results.

Depending on your state, you can make sure you have the other requirements. In Oklahoma, I needed the AICPA Ethics course and 40 hours of CPE. It is allowed here to do those before passing all the tests (as long as it's in the 365 days up to getting licensed). So I got started on those. I also caught up on recorded The Walking Dead 🙂
