    Jeff,

It seems like the majority of people on this forum found Reg to be very challenging in some form or another; do you think Reg will have some kind of curve or different grading, whatever you would like to call it?

I guess what I am asking is do you think the AICPA wants a certain percentage of people to pass or are they trying to make the pass rates lower with the new exam?

If REG 2011 doesn't get curved (or compared against other candidates, as the AICPA calls it), REG would have a 20% pass rate, seriously.

I completely agree, that's why my question is do they want the pass rate to be 20% or are they shooting for the 45 to 50% mark?

I believe they may have to do something. I mean that was the first test I ever walked in feeling prepared and walked out feeling like a complete failure. I focused on more complex topics and didn't focus on the little stuff and all my questions were about the little stuff. I am so afraid I will have to take it again. )-:

Haze, I had the same experience the first time I took Reg… worked hard on the more difficult stuff and was duped by all of the simpler things that I should have known for sure, but didn't spent a lot of time on. Failed by one point! The second time I worked on the basics and passed, no problem. That experience influenced the way I studied for FAR, hopefully it worked.

Doubtful…I think you'll still see the pass rate in the mid-40s.

what do we mean when we say the passing rate is 40%. Do you mean in the first try the passing rate is 40% or in general?

    AUD – 81

    FAR – 78

    BEC- 81

REG – 2/28–only a miracle will make me pass, but I do not believe in miracles. 🙁

I think he means about 45% of people will pass, not that they'll lower the passing score to 45.

    FAR 82
    AUD 81 (2007), 73, 80
    REG 68 (2010), 76
    BEC 58 (2007), 75 DONE!!!!

Tks! I did no suggest nor asked whether that the AICPA will lower the passing grade to 45. I wish though!

I also thing he meant to say that 45% is the passing rate regardless of whether you take the test one or more times.

    FAR – 78

Man, I'm really not feeling to good about this. I took the other three last year and passed them all, but REG was much harder this year.

Remember when everyone thought it would be best to save REG for 2011? Whoops.

Maybe the AICPA were lurking in the forums when we were talking about leaving REG for 2011 and decided to give us a reality check by making REG nearly impossible in 2011 !!!

In a serious note: Does anyone know how many of the sims are pretest for REG 2011? I hope 2 of them are pretest, that would benefit us all.

    I heard 1 was a pre-test but I am not sure. I hope its the 1 I didn't complete. Can't believe I got a SIM on that. )-:

    From Jeff's 50 Things you must know 2011 edition…

“You should assume that one of your 6 or 7 TBS tabs will be pre-test

and not count toward your exam score.”
