To the poster asking about the BEC exam: the IT questions can be all over the place in terms of topic. When I was doing my undergrad I worked for a family friend's business building, installing servers and TCP/IP networks in hospitals and outpatient clinics so I had a bit of experience in IT (almost pursued the IT route instead of accounting).
For the IT part…have you read the WILEY book on IT (BEC and AUD)? It provides a pretty good overview of an IT environment, including various roles (systems analyst, programmer, custodians/librarians, etc.). How familiar are you with database design? Can you spot the difference between a flat-file and relational database? Maybe stop by the library and pick up some books on database structure…do you understand the relationship between how machine code works…i.e. how series of 1/0 commands combine to form larger instructions and that on the user end these machine codes are often written by a compiler derived from object-oriented coding? IT resources are out there…if you still have some old textbooks from MIS/computer classes in college they may be a good resource.
Good luck…
