Is there anything worse than knowing you blew a sim during the wait?

I know I blew a sim (50% tops…bur more likely 30%) and am fairly confident that it was not a pre-test. Now I’ve been running the hamster cage in my head over and over about the possibility of passing despite doing so. “If I got 75% there and 90% there and at least xyz % on multiple choice” etc…Then perusing my review book for looking for answers to as many questions as I can remember (or jog my memory about). Been like this for days.

    Anyone else get this?

This score release cannot come soon enough. I just want closure one way or another.

    AUD - Passed 8/2/12
    BEC - Passed 8/30/12
    FAR - Passed 10/27/12
    REG - Passed 11/29/12

I was in the same boat. Felt pretty good about the mcq's on REG, but got my butt handed to me on the sims. There was one in particular where I know I missed at least 75% of the answers. Hopefully you will be pleasantly suprised.

    FAR 7/10/12 - 91
    BEC 8/31/12 - 86
    REG 10/22/12 - 89
    AUD 11/29/12 - 82

Don't stress yourself out so much. I know people who didn't even have time to finish one of the sims and they still passed. At least you put something down!

Yes, feeling unsure if you got 100% on any Sim is much worse.

    AUD - 82 (July)
    FAR - 85 (Aug)
    BEC - 82 (Oct)
    REG - 75 (Nov)
    DONE

I'm sure it is especially difficult with this being your last exam! Just remember that 75 does not mean 75% and it is out of your hands now. Try to relax and distract yourself until score release!

    BEC 81
    AUD 76
    FAR 70, 76
    REG 58, 78! DONE!

Thanks for the encouraging words folks. It is encouraging to hear “Yo, you can pass regardless of blowing a sim or two.”

My gut tells me that of 40%…It breaks down a test like REG 9-9-9-9-4 (4 being the research)….so blowing 2/3 is 6 percentage points….Despite it not being a percentage, that will always seem like a big chunk to me. Getting zonked on something with so much weight stinks.

    AUD - Passed 8/2/12
    BEC - Passed 8/30/12
    FAR - Passed 10/27/12
    REG - Passed 11/29/12

Wait, are you really worried about blowing 1/2 to 2/3 of ONE sim? Man, I wish I had your problem.

If you've been around here for a while you'll know that there are plenty of people who've passed the exam and left two+ sims completely blank. There is no way the AICPA expects you to get everything right on the sims… otherwise the passing rate would be way lower than 45-50%

If you did pretty good on the MC and the rest of the sims you will probably end up with a grade in the mid-80's I would guess. At the least you will pass. Stop worrying because you will be fine

I took my REG test on 11-27-12. I felt the same way and posted a very similar story on this forum that same day. I am with you in hoping that it was a pre-test, but i don't think it was. Have heard many stories of people passing despite missing a SIM, but I don't feel that way.

Also, I'm relatively sure the research question has the same weight as the other sims (6.66 points with on sim being a pre-test)

@Steven, I hope yer right…but my passing scores, while one was a healthy 86…The others were 79/81…and it seems like I normally get roughly 80% right in the reviewing MCQ's. No matter what I do 1/5 always seems to snooker me. So losing 5-6 points on one sim could be a BIG difference for me personally….

REG only has 6 TBS and 1 is pretest…so that 40% weighted is over 5 sims…One of the five, I'm sure, being research….That's how I'm coming up with 9/9/9/9/4 as a “guesstimate” of weight…..So yeah, hovering around 80% typically…A couple things don't go my way (some bad guesses on MCQ's) and that horrible sim and a 79 turns into a 72 real fast IMO.

Also have the concern about 4th quarter passing rates dropping like they have in the past. The third quarter was good to us candidates overall…Methinks there may be some “adjustment” downward….and something like a crappy TBS might play into that factor as well.

    AUD - Passed 8/2/12
    BEC - Passed 8/30/12
    FAR - Passed 10/27/12
    REG - Passed 11/29/12

Sorry, I thought you took FAR for some reason. Either way, the research question should be worth 1/5, not 1/10

Hopfefully my post will make you feel better. Trust me, you'll be fine. I would love to be in your shoes right about now and “worry” about if I blew 1/2 or 2/3 of a SIM. Aside from the research, which I'm positive I got right, all my other SIMS are up in the air. For 2 of them I knew what they were asking, just not sure if I put it in the format they wanted it, so those could be either really good or really bad. Other 2 was a healthy (and I mean healthy) amount of guessing. Remaining 1 I completely bombed, all guesses, but I'm certain that it was a pretest. No way did I come across it even once in the study material unless I'm blind.

I'm the one who should be asking if I passed or not. Ha. MCQ wasn't too bad (1st easy, 2nd definitely harder, 3rd was not as hard as 2nd, but no way easier than 1st).
