I am trying to remember the correct indepence issue regarding preparing tax services for a Review client. From my understanding of the material, we are allowed to prepare a tax return for a Review client, but are NOT able to prepare the individual 1040 for the president of the Review client. Can anyone confirm or deny this inquiry?

It depends whether it is a review for a public company (interim) or a private company. For public companies it is the same as an audit and you follow the PCAOB standards that do NOT allow and confidential, aggressive or corporate officer and family tax services. For private companies under the AICPA guidelines I believe it is allowable.

I agree with your response. This is a private co., and in this situation, I am pursuing the engagement and tax return prep since not a publically traded co. Something to note for future AUD and REG test takers. Possible exam question for sure….
