[I PASSED] How will you/did you celebrate passing the CPA Exam?

I found out yesterday morning I passed the last part of my CPA exam. Woot! I quickly thought of a quick way to announce it to my family. I thought a cake might be fun. So I called the local grocery store bakery. My husband used to chant “CPA! CPA! CPA!” when I studied, to encourage me to study hard. So I thought that would be funny to put on the cake.

I instructed, “I want CPA written 3 times, with exclamation points after each one.” This is what I got:

    LOL

    How’d your celebrations go?

My co-workers had a party for me with cake, punch, chips, and a veggie tray. They also gave me a basket called a CPA survival kit with different knick-knacks and a little poem to go with it. It had a Play-N-Learn counting toy for when my calculator wears out, a magic wand, a get out of jail free card, rope, etc 🙂 I'm also going on a cruise in a few weeks with my husband and parents and that will be my personal celebration.

    atipton,

Congrats! quick question, after your two attempts on REG and BEC did you keep using the same review or you switched?

I used Becker initially. On the third attempts, I switched. For REG and BEC, I bought the Gleim questions that you can download and used the Weily books to supplement. I also used th Yaeger CRAM for BEC. I had memorized all of the questions in Becker, and I was just going through the motions every night rather than truly studying. I was beyond burned out. The new materials really helped with my motivation, and I think they helped give me the extra “ooomph” I needed to pass.

Thank you so much!. I realized I also know the answers for Becker and I am sure it's not going to work if I dont change my material. I already have Wiley book so I will have to try Gleim questions to see if it works this time.

I found out this past Sat that I was finally done with all four . If I would have failed I would've had to pass FAR and AUD by Feb 28 in order not to lose REG. First thing I did was thank the Lord and then hug my wife because for our whole marriage so far I have been taking the exams….she certainly deserves credit as well for encouraging me time after time. Took me 21 times in 4 years but I did it. Looking forward to this summer where it will be the first in 4 years where I can enjoy the whole thing! Hope this can be an inspiration to anyone struggling.

    Feb 2006 = FAR 71

    April 2006 = AUD 63

Thanks for that post wiggy……….. I needed that. This will be my 5th time to take BEC 67,71,71,68. I passed my first part FAR on my birthday Feb of 2009 so planning on taking my last part on Feb 4th 2010 and get this finished. It worked last year when I passed my first one. I can then go celebrate my birthday and not feel guilty for not studying.

I bought yeager self study the end of Dec. I was studying Becker the last 2 times.

    Loved the Cake!

I bought myself an original painting from one of my favorite artists. I wanted to take Jeff's advice about spending an exam fee on a luxury you truely wanted but didn't buy because your money is going towards exam fees and new books.

It is something to appreciate in addition to my CPA license.

Keep at it guys. I started this journey half heartedly in 1995. I finally decided that it was time to take it seriously and started passing in Jan 2007 and finished inl May 2009…Yeager will always be a friend in my book.

I spent two weekends with friends I hadn't seen in months due to the exam. I also got cards from my grandparents and my grandparents-in-laws. Best thing was, they included cash like it was my birthday!

I finally joined a gym since the CPA Exam diet is over…

I haven't decided yet, but I really do like the idea of buying something (or doing something) that costs as much as reregistering for an exam. Makes a lot of sense and seems theraputic. If I could take vacation right now I would probably do that too

    AUD 81 - BEC 89 - FAR 82 - REG 86

I love reading these stories. I just took my last test yesterday so hopefully I will have my own story once I find out if I passed in a couple of weeks! 🙂
