This is my first time having to study for another exam while waiting for the release of one. I was doing great staying focused, but now with the release a few days away I am beginning to get anxious. I really am hoping for a 75 on my FAR retake, but i am getting the feeling i failed. How do you stay focused on your current exam?

Very difficult thing to answer. When I being good I think about not letting the worry about the my prior test contribute the failure of my test. And when that doesnt work I pour and double scotch and go back to studying the current section. I used to hit golf balls, that didnt work as well as alcohol. Dont worry about becoming an alcoholic, studying for thisctest you dont have time for meetings😀

I know it's tough but worrying isnt going to change the score. So upward and onward..

I hope you get the 75. FAR is a beer. i remember Q3 score release as I entered my SSN. i thought my heart was going to jump out of my mouth.

@a2014; Honestly, this is what my husband keeps telling me. I took the FAR retake on October 25th, so I have been waiting a while. I also didn't take one day off since then. He believe that I need a “me day” and to just have a few drinks and put my feet up. Basically I hit a wall right before I get my score.

@cessnapilot30; i keep saying this to myself day after day. I know there is nothing that i can do now about the test, but man can it playing with your feeling and mind.

Ahh, any suggestions on what to do? Drinking with friends, time with the husband, spa day? I always have a hard time relaxing because there is always something i could be doing. I never really sit down until it is time for bed. I am one of those people that are always on the go. I honestly just hit a mental wall. I am going to do light studying today and get back on the “cram” wagon tomorrow. Just wish i wouldn't waste the day.

At the end of the day, it's just an exam. Can't let it rob you of your happiness and who you are. Spend some time with your husband as I am sure you were AWOL while studying. Go see a movie, go do something fun. Let your brain unwind a little. I took REG Thursday, the Enrolled Agent exam yesterday and last night I went out and had a few beers and caught up with friends. Today was my I am not touching a book day. Tomorrow is football.

Monday I might consider studying for BEC.

I try to plan my exam so that I don't have to wait more than 2 weeks for my score. Then I take those two weeks off to myself. I read a book for pleasure, I shop, I spend time with friends/family that I haven't seen much while studying. It really helps to wind down after studying for so long. You brain needs a break, just like your body does. Make sure to plan time for yourself.

Do it all. Theres no rule that says you cant reward yourself more than 1 day. Its counter intuitive but a few days away from studying may help your focus.

I began thinking about how I stayed focused on FAR. I believe that I made myself take Friday, Saturday, or Sunday off. Now, that I am home alone most weekends due to the holiday schedule of my husbands work, I tend to study mostly every weekend. Unless there a dinner date with a friend, but even with that I study in the morning or afternoon. I am going to read a book or two this weekend and start fresh tomorrow afternoon. I think I need this moment to myself. I have a bath planned, a new bottle of wine, and fresh candles. I think even an afternoon will help me relax about the test and the current material that I am reviewing. Eh, never scheduling this way again.

I am just getting a nervous now because the first time with FAR I knew I didn't study enough. This time I put my all into it….now the real pressure is on. Thank you all for the input. it is greatly appreciated!

To be honest when I was taking the exam I treated studying like my job. I didn't get to tell my boss “hey I'm not going to get any actual work done today because I'm fretting over score release” so I didn't allow that situation to affect my studies either.

I just read your thread topic and thought I would put my couple pennies in. Forgive me if I am saying something that has already been stated above.

I am in the same boat with score release just days away. I will not be checking until I finished with my exam November 26. If my exam was longer than 2 weeks away I would definitely check. Everyone has there own way of doing it but I think its smart to give your current exam the full concentration and wait the extra time.
