I’m totally baffled how some get this test done within a few weeks. I work 9-5 probably like most others, but I know there is no way I could pass any section without a month or two of studying. I know Yaeger says anywhere from 100-200hrs per section, but some get through all four parts in a month or two. Even if I was unemployed with 10hrs a day studying, I don’t think I could pull that off….Kudos to who pulled it off in such a short time, but how??

    Audit Passed
    FAR Passed
    REG Passed
    BEC ??

New poster here…I am taking all four sections this window and it is miserable on your social life. I start work full time in September so I figured that I would just have no life this summer and take all four sections. Not sure if it was the greatest decision of my life, time will tell. I took FAR 7/14 and I felt decent about it, wouldn't be surprised with a 76 or a 74. Took AUD 7/25 and I would be surprised if I failed. I have REG on Monday and BEC on the 18th so not too long before I am finished (for now). All in all, I would say I am averaging about 55 hours per week studying and I took the Becker fast pass in May and June. I feel like I have enough time to be adequately prepared for each section but, like I said, time will tell. Good luck to everyone testing!

    FAR (7/14/11) - 87
    AUD (7/25/11) - 82
    REG (8/8/11) - 77
    BEC (8/18/11) - 79

My job requires that I read and write content somewhat similar to CPA exam prep material all day. Try studying after that. Sucks.

    AUD - 95, BEC - 85
    REG - 85, Rawrrrrrr FAR - 88
    Used Becker for all sections.

I am sure that the vast majority of us would not even attempt such a thing, let alone actually have success trying to do it. This is for a variety of reasons, mostly that we work or have families or whatever…I think we all have to remember that we shouldn't measure our own success using someone else's measuring stick…

I know for myself, even if I did nothing else but study for this exam, I couldn't pass all 4 in 2 months. I know that is impossible FOR ME, so I am not even tempted to try it. I would lose motivation halfway through and certainly wouldn't be able to stick to that plan…besides, I'm just not much of a risk taker!

I love the comparison to climbing Mt. Everest! That is such a great way of looking at it! Amazing for those who are able to do it…

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

Early this year I set a goal of taking all the exams by the end of May. I knew that this was possible because I could study full time since I had no kids at home, wasn't working, and my mother's situation was settled enough that i wouldn't have lots of interruptions. What I hadn't realized was how important having a specific target date was for me because it curbed my perfectionism. It didn't matter if I passed, let alone got a perfect score–I just had to take them. If you knew me, you'd know what a major issue this was for me. This commitment I made to myself changed how I dealt with obstacles that occurred and what I thought was essential to do in the short term. I didn't keep track of how many hours I studied, but it was a lotbmore than 55 per exam. I graduated in 12/05 and haven't worked in accounting aside from a few tax returns so the material wasn't fresh. I am able to study effectively for long periods of time and learned what worked best for me when studying for FAR so I knew the best way to prepare for the others.

Did I plan it this way? No, that was one of the obstacles I encountered. Would I have done it this way if I'd realized how hard it would be? I don't know, but I'm glad now that I did. Would I recommend it to anyone else? Probably not.

I had the same goal as kb24, except that i wanted to finish the exam before the 2011 changes. I had other obligations, but I studied for 2 at a time with a concrete study plan. If you make a plan and make a good effort to stick to it, its certainly possible to finish in 2 months

Magic, I dunno. Get past your own parts, and you'll be sitting pretty soon enough!

    Couldn't pass again!

4 in 2 month is tough even with no job. I cant imagine studying 8+ hrs a day for 2 months…takes alot of discipline and strong nerves! Seems like self torture. Don't do it unless you have to.

Eh I dont know, I did my undergrad and masters in Accounting and one thing I know about Accounting majors is that they are hyper-competitive, one-upping, compulsive liars. Ugh don't even get me started! Long story short, sure, there are people who have the ample time and financial means to focus SOLEY on the CPA exam and pass it in one window, but on the whole, when people talk about doing it all in one window, they're probably just blowing smoke up your butt. Bottom line, whether someone did the one window pass legitimately or not, chances are you probably didn't ask anyway, but don't let anyone elses study plan stress you out or make you feel like you're not doing it well enough. I actually recall an arrogant twit in my masters program who boasted that he took and subsequently passed all 4 parts in one window…later found out through the grapevine that he had only passed one. And please, no offense to those who have done it, I'm just relaying my own personal experiences. I took the parts during the masters program so I didn't have the luxury of the time to knock them out that quickly, but kudos to those of you who may have!

I'm currently sitting for 3 parts in one window because I don't want to lose my last credit I have right now. Just like Herbie said don't do it unless you have to. I kind of put myself in this situation so now I have to dig myself out of it. Who knows if I'll succeed but I'm for sure going to try my hardest!!

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming that you aren't implying I lied about my experience. It's wasn't what I originally planned, but I did take the exams on the dates listed in my signature and passed. I studied for FAR for several weeks and then did each of the other exams with 2 weeks of intense studying.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80

I think this totally depends on your situation. I could have NEVER done this. First off my bachelors degree was in Business Administration and though I have taken some accounting courses before the CPA exam I had never taken individual taxation, advanced accounting, cost accounting I&II, auditing I&II, government and non for profit accounting. So I was learning this stuff brand new. Wasn't a refresher course or a situation where I had seen the material before and could remember parts of it. Now I think had I taken those courses and taken them within the last 5 years, then yeah I probably could sit for all 4 in one window. So again, it depends on your home life, work life, if you're still a student etc.

    @kb24

I wasn't speaking directly to you, just in more ambiguous terms…in fact, if I may quote myself: “And please, no offense to those who have done it, I'm just relaying my own personal experiences.”. So if you assert that you did, it is I who is giving you the benefit of the doubt, kb! Again, not calling your specific experience into question, just trying to speak to the original poster in general terms…candidates can get distressed and demotivated when they think that they are not taking/passing the exams quickly enough. I apologize if you thought I was implying you were a liar and subsequently hurt your feelings…certainly not my intentions! Congrats on your rambo-esque approach to the cpa exam!

It sucks even trying. I would never recommend it to anyone. I personally am between my 4th and 5th year of school, and it has been an absolutely brutal summer. And if I do poorly on the tests this testing window, it was all for nothing. Or if I pass two of the three I have remaining and then cannot pass the fourth for whatever reason, my credit will ALL expire within two months and I would be back to square one. This definitely seems like the test to take your time accomplishing…

I agree, definitely wouldn't try it unless you have too. I am feeling completely burned out on studying. Like E_Essian said…I will feel like I wasted my summer if I end up doing poorly on them. I just figured it was worth a try before I start my job and at least I will have a good foundation if I do need to re-study for any of them. Gotta think positive though, it is possible to get this done so try to finish up strong.
