I did the becker sims in the final exam and noticed when I looked at the results that it marked me wrong on my J/E because i had the order of the entries wrong.

Does anyone know if the order of the entries important?

what i had:

dr cash

dr new building

cr old building

cr gain

what they said was right

dr new building

dr cash

cr old building

cr gain

Same amounts and everything just different order. Isn’t this the same thing? I am really confused and not sure if it is important to make the J/E’s in a specific way. I just don’t want to get points off for any stupid mistakes.

John – the order of the journal entries don't matter as long as you have the correct accounts and the correct amounts.
