Has anyone scored Comparable on both MC AND Sims and still failed?? - Page 2

As I read through some threads and see people posting their Performance Reports, I’m finding it very interesting. I’ve seen people get Weaker on MC and Stronger on Sims and pass. I’ve seen people get Stronger on MC and Weaker on Sims and fail. And there are even some that got Stronger on MCQs and Weaker on Sims and still pass. I’ve even seen one person that got Comparable on MC and Weaker on the Written Communication on BEC and still failed even though the WC is only worth 15 points. It’s all over the place.

I have yet to see someone say that they’ve failed even though they’ve scored Comparable on both MCQs and Sims. Has this happened to anyone? Just curious.

@CPAMan – I am actually a little bit curious as well to see if anyone got Comparable/Comparable and failed. I'd be surprised to see it though.

Remember, the Stronger/Comparable/Weaker doesn't get broken down further. You mentioned that some people get a 74 with Stronger/Weaker and some get a 74 with Comparable/Weaker. While those people who got stronger on MCQ clearly did better than you on MCQ, their “weaker” in SIMS was actually worse than your “weaker” in sims.

    89/59 (Stronger/Weaker) = 74

    79/69 (Comparable/Weaker) = still equals 74

I think its impossible to understand how they “grade” us. The fact that we don't have any access to our own exam results is beyond comprehension. Obviously, the reports are confusing, abstract, and given just to show us something to make believe we failed because of “this and this”. It's sad that they don't disclose what we did wrong… for our own expense and I mean $$$$ too. If they asked to pay more to give me the real results, I would pay more. I would pay more for the 5 min restroom break and a bottle of water on the desk for each exam taker. I've heard of ppl wearing, pardon me, diaper in case they have no time to attend the bathroom. But this should be in a different thread I guess.

Maybe there're more levels of weaker and stronger (horribly weaker and unusually stronger) 😀

@nolife- Well, apparently, Sims is what we need to work on. But then again, if we remain Comparable on MCQs and boost our Sims to Comparable, is there a chance we will still fail in the low 70s again? And that's the whole point of why I started this thread. I'm trying to work out a study habit on what I feel will help me pass next time. It looks to me that we have to do whatever it takes to perform Stronger in both areas. That's the only sure fire way of passing. So, that is why I care.

@Xenia – I tend to disagree. I think the score report is useful. The score report gives you the broad categories in which you scored weaker than your passing peers. For example, on REG I scored weaker in “Ethics and Responsibilities.” (lol) If I had had to retake REG, I would have brushed up on that category. What is confusing about the score reports you have received?

@CPAMan – Again, if you are “Comparable” on SIMS to people who got 75-80 and you are “Comparable” on MCQ to people who got 75-80, I don't see how you can get a 70-74. I would be really curious to have someone post their score report that got comparable in both and failed.

I should also point out that I've seen people fail with a Stronger/Weaker on MCQ/Sims and get Stronger and Comparable on all Categories. That's another thing that puzzles me…

@CPAMan – Its the Weaker on SIMS. SIMS are 40% of your score. If you bomb the SIMS, it's really tough to pass.

i don't rely on the score report like i used to in the past. i've learned it's a different exam everytime you take it (different mcq, sims, different candidates to compare to, etc).

@CPAMan, agreed. we have to do whatever it takes to be stronger in both. i know you've been studying hard, you got it this time!!!

    REG-65,71,74,73,70,74,79
    BEC-60's,60's,69,71,76*,78
    FAR-67,66,65,79
    AUD-54,60's,65,83*,69,80
    *expired

    DONE

    That's true.

I don't know how it's possible, but I'll try to make use of the Research Tab next time. It seems to me that a lot of people are using that feature wisely and that's how they perform well in that area. I'm still not sure how I can do it. Research is basically testing how well you know the concept and the IRC can only help you so much in that regards.

Mini…see your own explanation on this thread about failing with comparable on sims & mcq.

    BEC (11/10) 77 (Bisk)
    FAR 7/2 - 63 11/5 - 80 (Yeager - Fail, Becker - Pass)

    Aud - 11/29 - 78(Yeager)

@nolifecpa- Your right. During this window, all the tax experts are going to be real busy and overstressed at this time. So, I'm going to take this opportunity to do very well. We both got it this time and will pass! Good luck to you!

@rgibson3rd- Whoa, I completely forgot about that thread. Even I posted in it. So I guess it IS possible to fail and get Comparable in both MCQs and Sims. Interesting! Ok, it's time to get real serious in studying… not that I haven't been serious all along, but you know what I mean. 😉

    Gotta aim for that 99!

And I know this sounds crazy, but after I take Reg on 2/25, I am going to still study for about 1-2 hours each night just in case I failed. I don't care how confident I feel walking out of the test room, I'm not going to take any chances. I need to keep the material fresh in my head just in case I failed, especially if I failed after getting Comparable on MCQs and Sims, lol.
