I took FAR 8/2/11 & I was feeling pretty good about the multiple choice, but the simulation killed me! I probably finished 50% of them. Has anyone passed FAR without finishing the sims?

    BEC (10/1/11)
    REG (1/1/12)
    AUD (6/1/12)

I did but I just didn't do one sim, not half. You may pass if you got all the ones you did correct though.

    FAR - 83 - 05/23/2011
    BEC - 85 - 07/02/2011
    AUD - 79 - 08/13/2011
    REG - scheduled Oct 10

One of them is pretest too. You could have lucked out and skipped one of the ones that didn't count. Time mgmt for sims is a must. Don't spin wheels on mcq. Pick one and go.

Let's be realistic. If you finished only 50% of the SIMS, you are likely going to fail. Even if one of the ones you skipped was the pretest one, you would still have to pretty much ace the rest of the exam.

@Minimorty- I doubt that. I have a slight hunch that the Sims are not worth as much as the AICPA claims. For my AUD test, I felt I would be lucky if I got half of my Sims right. Therefore, I wasn't expecting more than an 80 on my exam. I ended up with an 87. I felt pretty good with the MCQs, but was completely lost on the Sims. If the OP did well on the MCQs, he/she still has a good chance of passing.

Agree with CPAMan – I was lost as all hell on the REG Sims and ended up doing much better than expected

    BEC - 86
    AUD - 94
    REG - 88
    FAR - 89

Right, but I'm sure you guys at least filled out the sims. You probably got a lot more partial credit than you think. This is completely different than not even attempting half of the sims. Also, what are the chances that someone who only completed half of the sims did marvelously well on the rest of the exam? I am not meaning to be offensive, just realistic.

It's very easy to run out of time on FAR. I was too wrapped on the MCQs on my exam that I only left myself an hour to do the 7 TB Sims. I got lucky because 2 of them were Research questions that I was able to find in 1-2-3. If I didn't get 2 Research questions, I probably would've ran out of time because a Research Sim takes significantly less time. I hope in REG, I get two research questions as well.

@CPAMan – I'm taking REG the day before you. I'd also love to see two research questions. I got only one on FAR and AUD so far. Hopefully I am due!

I took FAR in July. I answered all 7 SIMS but I was really lost on most of them. I'm just hoping to get partial credit for at least attempting them LOL

I'm kinda with minimorty on this one….I mean, sims are 40% of the exam, so if you skip them, you are already mathematically eliminated from passing. It's true, if you at least attempt the sims, you may certainly get more partial credit than you expect, but it's not something I would like to bank on.

I'm with minimorty and baseball. If you only finished 50% of the SIMS, you've already knocked 15-20 points off your possible score depending on whether or not one of the uncompleted ones is a test question. It's possible that you could ace all the MCQ and other SIMS and score in the high 70's or low 80's but unlikely. Those of you who bombed the SIMS and passed probably did better than you thought or got some partial credit for what you did. Yeah, FAR is tough to finish in the time given, but every review course emphasizes the importance of time management. You have to have a plan going in and stick to it.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

OK let me be more specific, 50 % of the SIMS were rushed and not completely thought out (but an answer was entered into the cells). The only SIM I did not complete was research (I know stupid).

    Thanks everyone for your input!

    reyrey57,

It's damn near impossible to gauge your performance. I was convinced that I had failed REG due to my miserable performance on the sims, yet I passed with an 85. Go figure.

    AUD - 95, BEC - 85
    REG - 85, Rawrrrrrr FAR - 88

I hear you T-Rex! I guess what I really want to know is if people have past but felt like the SIMS destroyed their hopes LOL!
