What are the permutations that normally translates into a pass in FAR ,forgive my ignorance as i am just a novice when it comes CPA exams,

Is it Weaker in MCQ and Comparable in SIM or Comparable in MCQ and Comparable in SIM or Weaker in SIM and Stronger in MCQ or Weaker in SIM and comparable in MCQ or …. …..????? The 2 extremes weaker in both MCQ and SIM or Stronger in both MCQ and SIM I know the obvious answer as it is a FAIL and a PASS. Please educate me as I learnt a 75 pass is not equal to 75% marks in both SIM and MCQ since the 75 pass is not the same as 75/100. So what is the upper or lower limits for Weaker , Comparable and Stronger ? The whole grading system is very confusing I have read the AICPA grading bulletin but still do not get it. I understand that one sure bet for passing is to know the FAR stuff so well that I do need to know any grading report but for curiosity sake I want to understand the AICPA grading report just for guidance.

From my understanding, when the score report says “weaker, comparable, stronger” it is comparing your results to those that scored in the 75 to 77ish range. So a score report of “MCQs: comparable, SIMS: comparable” equals a pass (just barely).

Obviously you could be weaker in the MCQs and stronger in SIMS, or vice versa, and pass.
